Central University Tamil Nadu (CUTN) would shortly open a satellite campus in Trichy, informed University Vice-Chancellor, M Krishnan. The vice-chancellor at the university's sixth convocation on Wednesday said that Chief Minister M K Stalin has offered to assist in the establishment of a campus in Trichy.
M Krishnan also said, “We held a meeting with the chief minister last week to discuss the matter. He has assured me to provide all the necessary help. We will require around 25 acres of land for the purpose. The Chief Minister further promised to acquire the required land. All the efforts were made to benefit more students from Tamil Nadu." On-campus classes, which were halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will reopen from October 20.
“Students of UG third-year and PG final-year will be asked to attend the class. Those coming to the classes should take both jabs and should also submit the relevant certificates when coming to class," he further said.
He also informed that a separate sports department will be established at the institution shortly, and a specialized budget has been sought for this purpose.
Earlier, Union Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan expressed hope that the country's education landscape will undergo a significant shift in the coming years as a result of numerous reforms.
He also expressed his pleasure at the decision of CUTN to revise the syllabi of several programs to follow the outcome-based education (OBE) model.
G Padmanaban, the university's Chancellor, presided over the program and awarded degrees to 1,564 students, with an overall pass percentage of 97.4 per cent. According to the officials, degree certificates would be sent to students.
