Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has officially announced the reduction of the syllabus of Classes ICSE 10th, ISC 12th for the current academic year 2021-22. Students of ICSE class 10th and ISC class 12th can search for the new syllabus and semester plan on the official CISCE website, @cisce.org.
The CISCE has decided to divide the current academic year 2021-22 into two semesters with a 50% syllabus covering each semester for class ICSE 10th and ISC 12th. After considering the continuing disruption of educational activities and the schools being shut down due to the pandemic covid-19 circumstances, the council has taken this decision.
The subject experts were asked to check and examine the syllabi for various subjects at the ICSE and ISC levels explicitly for classes 10th and 12th for the examination year 2022. According to the official notification, the CISCE has notified the subject experts to identify the portions which could be reduced, without compromising on the content quality.
Moreover, it was stated that considering the reduction of syllabus of the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) levels, the CISCE will follow a different method to conduct examinations for the academic year 2021-22.

CISCE Syllabus 2021: Marking scheme for semester 1 and semester 2
Both the semester question papers will consist of 80/100 marks for ICSE. Meanwhile, the question papers for the ISC will be of 70/80 marks. The division of marks will be on the basis of the maximum marks currently allocated for the theory component of the subjects. However, the weightage of marks (for each of the semesters) to be finally used for computation/evaluation of the board results would be brought down to half.
CISCE Syllabus 2021: Practical/ Project work
Considering the pandemic situation, the practicals for the ISC level will be conducted by the exam invigilators who are in charge of setting the practical question papers on the basis of detailed guidelines and instructions of the Council. In case, if the pandemic situation does not normalise, the students will not be able to appear for the physical exams, thus, online/ virtual mode of examination will be followed. Similarly, in the semester exams conducted by the CISCE for the academic session 2021-22, students will be evaluated based on the internal assessment at the ICSE level. However, the mark weightage of the same will remain unchanged.
