Central Govt. Approves Setting up DACE in 30 CUs to Prepare SC Students for UPSC Exams


New Delhi: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has recently approved the establishment of ‘Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence’ in over 30 central universities to provide UPSC entrance exam-related coaching classes to Scheduled Caste students. 

Under this approval, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will grant an annual fund of INR 75 Lakh to the newly established Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence. The funds will be used to facilitate coaching classes for SC students who are preparing for civil service examinations.

As per the official statement made by the government, the duration of UPSC Entrance Exam 2022 coaching classes will be one year for each student. "Each DACE would be eligible for an annual grant of Rs 75 lakh” the statement added.

Selected central universities who wish to avail funds are now requested to submit their proposals by January 31, 2022, to the concerned authority. Proposals submitted after the given deadline will not be considered by the authorities. 

Confirming the statement, APPSC IIT Bombay’s official tweet reads, "EduMinOfIndia, MSJEGOI has approved the setting up of Dr. Ambedkar Center of Excellence in 30 Central Universities for providing coaching facilities for exams to SC students".

"All approved Central Universities in India which are now preparing to introduce UPSC Exam coaching classes for SC students should send proposals by 31st January 2022 for availing the funds,” the tweet further reads. 

UPSC Entrance Exam 2022: SC Coaching Classes Highlights

Under the directions of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment candidates who belong to the SC category and meets the below criteria can apply for the coaching classes: 

  • Students must belong to the SC category. 
  • Students should have a minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying exam.
  • Coaching services can only be used once. 
  • Attending classes for all courses is mandatory. 
  • Only 100 seats have been sanctioned for coaching centers. 
  • For female SC students, a total of 33% of seats have been reserved in all approved Central Universities. 

The approved universities that will facilitate coaching classes for SC students are required to have all necessary education facilities on the campus ground. Universities must have a separate classroom, library, high-speed wifi connectivity, other requisite equipment, etc.

Additionally, universities are advised to share the detailed report of the SC coaching classes with the concerned authority. The schedule of classes and syllabus of the same will be further shared with the government before the commencement of classes.
