Dr. C.S Bhargava completed his B.Pharm in 1975 from Dr. Hari Singh Gaur Vishawavidyalaya and further pursued M.Pharm and Ph.D. He is the Director Of Advanced Institute Of Biotech and Paramedical Science, Kanpur. He is also the President of the Pharma Manufacturers Association, Kanpur. He has also published several research works at national and international levels.

What are the key factors that kept you in the best positions at educational institutes?

“Luckily, I got the chance to teach students and make a difference in their lives”

You may say it is my luck. We were having a medicine manufacturing company by the name of Sigma Pharma Pvt. Ltd. and I was a manufacturer there for 37 years. We made all kinds of medicine like capsules, tablets, syrups, and injections, and other life-saving injections including morphine, ointments, eye drops. I was associated with the industry for so much time and we had training tours from so many institutes which drove me towards the education sector and here I am today guiding a pool of talented students striving to achieve great heights in their life. My other reason to become a teacher is to make a difference in the lives of as many students. I draw satisfaction from my job when I see my students getting employed and generating employment for others as well.

How do you make the Course Curriculum industry-oriented?

“To bridge the gap between the practical and theoretical skills of students”

The Institute aims to equip students with conceptual knowledge and functional skills required towards a technology-oriented world. The curriculum of our institute is designed such that a student throughout his academic session goes through rigorous theoretical and practical sessions. In the first semester, there are five subjects and we have a criterion of about 16-18 practicals per subject per semester so a student does around 90 practicals in a semester which helps enhance the functional skills of a student and he or she can claim to have hands-on experience in on the best tools which they will encounter in the industry. We have high-performance liquid chromatography, chromatography, spectrophotometers, etc. tools that enable the students to grasp every aspect of what they will encounter in the industry and hence in his 4 years while doing around 700 practicals, an outgoing student has immense knowledge and experience of the things they will see in the company. We have a well-trained and experienced technical staff who make our students better than the students of other colleges.

Scholarships are available for students under Samaj Kalyan Vibhag (the entity of Govt. of India) as per AKTU & Government norms. What advice would you give to the students for their prosperous career ahead?

“Students should attend classes regularly and follow all the instructions given by the mentors”

If a student is serious about his studies which include his theoretical and practical studies, no one can stop such a student from succeeding in his/her life. He/she can achieve any target which they set their sights on. We feel that when a student has good attendance in class he or she can secure good marks just by being attentive in class and by applying minimum effort. One of my final year students, Sakshi Gupta has secured 93% marks just by attending the majority of the lectures and revising the subjects for 2 hours after class on weekends. I am 100% sure that she will get the gold medal this year and this is what I hope will inspire the students to take their education seriously and excel in their life. 

What do you see as College’s greatest strengths?

Located in the backdrop of green fields, the campus has an aesthetic and pleasant look, which provides the students with a perfect environment for studying. We have a well-equipped library with a wide collection of books, journals, and periodicals on an array of subjects. We have excellent sports facilities which help the students stay in good physical and mental state. We organize a wide variety of cultural and technical events for boosting the extra-curricular activities of the students. Also, our colleges constantly organize industry visits wherein the students are taken to witness medicine manufacturing in industries to get in-depth knowledge of the subject and the industry. We are focussing on the collaboration with the International Labs & establishment of Advance Phytochemical Research Center (APRC) for the focused research in the field of medicinal plants. We are determined to give the students creative thinking, up-to-date knowledge, and technology in a refreshing atmosphere, as well as We are continuously working to improvise the concept of Pharma education in today’s global era to serve humanity better.
