Interview by Pratyasha

College of Hospitality Administration

Mr. Anand Yadav is currently designated as the Managing Director of College of Hospitality Administration, Jaipur. He is an MBA graduate in Hotel Management with 25 years of experience in the industry. He has been associated with JW Marriott, Les Roches School of Hotel Management, Royal Carribean Cruiseline and many more prestigious organizations. Mr. Yadav has held various positions with Hotel Industry of the Gulf region.

In an exclusive interview with collegedunia.com, Mr. Yadav shares his experience in the education industry and talks about his role and responsibilities at CHA.

Experience in the education industry

Education is one of the most powerful weapons one can use to change the world. I have been associated with the education industry from the year 1993-94, and since then I have noticed that there is a massive gap in between what is being taught and what is being utilized.

Also, I have been involved in various training activities with different organizations like JW Marriott, Royal Carribean Cruiseline and that experience has helped me a lot in the education industry. As an educationist, I always wanted to change the scenario of Hotel Management in India. Therefore, right from the beginning, I started professionally developing people.

The Hotel Management industry requires a person to adapt to the changes or the trends that are happening regularly in the world. The amalgamation of these factors is necessary to increase one’s experience in this industry.

Philosophy and leadership style

I have always believed in keeping my philosophy as an open forum. This helps both my colleagues and me to continue our discussion open to every conclusion. An open forum for all kind of discussions helps to keep a broader horizon.

I have given liberation to all types of ideas from getting expressed. Therefore, I never imposed any of my ideas upon them. As an institution, it is essential to come up with the best possible conclusion or any policy in favour of the students. Therefore, our main motto is ripening of the minds of the students.

CHA taking a leap in its curriculum practices

As the Managing Director of this college, I believe in designing the curriculum in a clear cut method. The main problem among the colleges is the curriculum. They have become obsolete with their methods and not giving attention to the real problem of the world, i.e. how to lead a life. This emerges as a crucial problem among students after getting out of college.

We, at the College of Hospitality Administration, have taken innovative steps to mould the students with out of the box method. The college has introduced the Learning Evolution Accelerated Programme (LEAP) which enables each student to learn offbeat topics. The topics in this programme involves learning about the functioning of room service, kitchen, restaurant, bar; how to control the cycle of purchasing, indenting, stores to name a few. As an institution of hotel management, our course curriculum should not only giving hands on floor workers but also providing supervisors with managerial aspects.

Changes witnessed in the education industry

The motive of educationists is to make industry-ready curriculum for the students. With 25 years of experience, I can clearly say that various changes have come across me. With more and more private education coming up, aggressiveness can be seen in the hotel management industry.

Skills required in a student

  • Communication skills- A student should have fantastic communication skills to survive and excel in this world.
  • Personal skills- One should have focus, patience and highest order of grooming to sustain in the hotel management industry.

Active participation of Mr. Yadav in the growth of students

An individual can achieve anything with the required set of skills, i.e. passion. If you are passionate about your job, nobody can stop you from achieving success. I am always available to my students and help them in their holistic development. , and I have taught them about factors involved in personality development.

Goals for CHA

I am ensuring to help reach the college at the epitome of the hotel management industry. With best practices available at the college, we should be able to provide exposure of the highest order to our students. As an educationalist, I must apprise the students with the newest trends available in the industry.

Suggestions to the aspiring students

Youths are the future of our nation and they should be given the path of honesty, sincerity, dedication, and focus. With these set of tracks, one cannot lose their way in achieving success.
