Mr. S.S Gill is the Executive Director of Star Aviation Academy, Gurgaon, Haryana. He has had the privilege of serving at senior positions in the airline industry. These included Base In-charge, Delhi Region of Air Deccan and various senior positions in the Engineering Department of renowned Airlines. He aims to increase the awareness regarding aviation learning, amongst aspiring students.

What can an inbound student gain from studying here in your academy?

Aviation Training is similar around the world. All countries are required to follow International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) norms. International students are welcome to join Star Aviation and such students should follow Government guidelines for joining this course.

How does the curriculum of Star Aviation Academy ensure the best practice of industry?

DGCA is a Government body that regulates all civil aviation activities in India. It is the licencing authority for all airlines, training Institutions, pilots, and aircraft maintenance engineers. Our training system has been designed in a way that would benefit students and help them clear the DGCA AME Module examinations smoothly.

How does your academy support students of different economic backgrounds?

“Financial aid and support is provided for talented students”

We follow a system of equal opportunity and equal respect, to all our stakeholders. We give a 10% Tution fee scholarship for wards of armed forces of India. We also help students in getting education loans from Banks. Deserving candidates are helped financially.

What has been your vision for the growth of Star Aviation Academy?

“To establish an AME school with a different approach, focusing more on practical knowledge”

I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge over the years in the aviation industry. Now is the time to pass it onto the next generation. Through our academy, we focus on the quality of education, training, work ethics and building a value-added system. We endeavour to make good Aircraft maintenance Engineers with great concerns for the society and nation. We support a vision of ‘Building nation through building careers’.

We regularly motivate our students to achieve success in DGCA module examinations. The combined efforts of our staff and students have produced the best results in Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Module examinations, conducted by DGCA. Our students have consistently gained top positions in these examinations. 

What are some of the biggest challenges you see for higher education?

“Lack of awareness about field of Aircraft maintenance Engineering”

There is undue focus on a formal degree in our education system, than on professional skill qualifications. There is a need to raise awareness regarding the aviation industry. An awareness campaign is required so that more people join this profession and India can meet its technical manpower requirements.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

“Youth must possess quality of self discipline and strength of character”

I believe that there is no shortcut to success. Hard work, sincerity, and the right attitude are the only essential requirements for success. One must focus on gaining top-class professional knowledge to become leaders of tomorrow. 

What are some plans that you’re currently designing for your academy?

“Advanced training in the field of aviation industry”

We are making efforts to set an example in the Aviation Industry of Quality Training and professional attitude, a standard which others are compelled to follow. These include AME training in Star Aviation and pilot training in our upcoming Star Aviation Flying School. We shall strive to be distinguished by professional competence, knowledge, discipline and work ethics.
