Mr. Ravi Bahuguna is the Owner and Director of Aarav Institute of Hotel Management, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He has a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Rishikesh and Diploma in Hotel Management. Also, he has 4 years of teaching experience in Hotel Management Institute along with 20+ years of working experience in the reputed National and International Hotels including Cruise Lines and Rigs. He gained this much culinary skills through his hard work and passion for work as he has today.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

"I feel education helps us to live a dignified life, and same factor is the reason behind my association"

Since the start of our society, education has played a very crucial role in improving the life quality of people and everything we see around contains every small aspect of education in it. So, I believe if I can contribute to the growth of our society and nation by educating our young generation, nothing would be better than that. Hence I started my career as a Teacher and now I have my own institute makes my bond with the education sector even more closer. So I believe all these together have helped me stay connected with the education sector.

What is your philosophy of leadership? 

"A true leader is the one who knows how to forgive mistakes of others but never forget to give them feedback"

Leadership for me is all about empowering others with available resources and your guidance. I also follow a very simple principle in my daily life while dealing with people of different mindset and that is I always forgive myself if somewhere I do something wrong but I don't forget to take a lesson from it no matter if I am dealing with people at personal or professional level. Because it's a human tendency and we are made to make mistakes no matter how much we try to be perfect. 

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practices of industry?

"It is developed in accordance with development and requirements of industry people"

Our main aim is always to provide truthful and faithful knowledge and facilities to our students and staff members. And to develop an industry oriented curriculum, we do rigorous analysis and research about latest developments and expectations of the industries so that we can design new courses for the benefit of students. And we also take inputs from our faculty members, eminent academicians and industry experts on how we can improve the quality of our curriculum.

How is your college more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

"Students are free to pay their fee in installments and we always provide equal opportunities to them"

We firmly believe that every student should receive the best quality and equal level of education irrespective of their race, caste, economic background and gender. I have seen many parents get very cautious about these things, but to be honest it's very hard to change people's mind, so I try to help as much as possible. Also, we have made it flexible for students to pay tuition fee in installments instead of doing the whole payment in one go and we never discriminate between students and offer them equal learning and growth opportunities.

What are your roles and responsibilities for the college and students?

"As the Owner of my institute I am responsible for providing best quality education, facilities and industry exposure to students"

Being a Teacher and now the Owner of our Institute, the scope of my responsibilities is very vast and there are many tasks which I need to complete on a daily basis. And I need to ensure my students receive the best quality of education and industrial exposure, best faculties and environment in the college to grow on both personal and professional fronts. Apart from this, I need to ensure teachers receive my support and guidance whenever required.

What do you think should be the College's top priority over the next 10 years?

"For the upcoming years, I want to expand my college and offer Degree programs as well to students"

I aspire to expand our institute into an eligible Degree College and I also want to provide different fields of learning to our students. Apart from this, making students competent and technically proficient so that they can work not only in the Hotel Management Industry but in other industries as well because this young generation has the potential to do many things. 

Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

"Never give up on your dreams and never afraid to ask questions or try new things"

I would like to advise my dear students and youths of our society to never give up on their dreams and aspirations even if they fail sometimes, and take every failure as an opportunity to improve yourself. Also, don't let your failures bother you much, because you have to struggle a lot before reaching the final destination of your journey. Lastly, don't change your dreams but change the ideas or paths that don't work for you.
