Incorporating international exposure during courses can provide students with a unique and valuable learning experience. Exposure to different cultures, perspectives, and business practices can broaden students' understanding of global issues and enhance their problem-solving skills. It can also help them develop language proficiency, adaptability, and cross-cultural communication skills, which are increasingly important in today's interconnected world. By embracing international exposure, students can enrich their academic and personal growth and prepare themselves for successful careers in an increasingly globalized workforce. During a program on Generation Study Abroad in Washington, DC, it was noted that short-term study abroad courses contribute to strengthening collaborative skills and cultural sensitivity. More than 70% of interviewees felt study abroad improved their curiosity, flexibility and adaptability, confidence, and self-awareness. On the other hand, employers believe that students who have gained international exposure through immersion or study tour programs have better skills needed for being a part of today’s workforce.
The courses available at Sparsh Global Business School help students get world-class global exposure as it recognizes the importance that international exposure has on expanding a student’s worldview. It does so by inculcating the following components in its courses:
- International Study Tour - Students studying in SGBS get a chance to undergo a mandatory 2-week global study tour. The aim of this study tour is to expose each student to the functioning of top global enterprises and institutions. Nowadays, no organization can work on its own, therefore, understanding and fulfilling global norms have become the sole point of success.
- Classes by International Faculty Members - SGBS mainly focuses on bringing a global outlook to the classroom. The college regularly invites global faculty members to take sessions with students in their areas of expertise and conduct MDPs with the corporates. With this, students understand any topic from a global perspective
- International Virtual Project-based experiential learning - Engaging in virtual project-based experiential learning with participants from different countries give students an understanding of the multi-market mechanism, virtual teamwork, complexities of working across time zones, and working and collaborating with teams with different cultural orientation
The projects require students to use their knowledge of business management e.g. communications, presentations, negotiations, leadership, etc., in managing global business, operations management, information systems, marketing, and accounting & finance. The primary objective of such projects is to solve a real problem faced by international organizations.
SGBS offers three diverse Immersion Programmes:
- International Immersion: It is a two-week international visit to countries such as Australia, Europe, Singapore, and the Middle East for global business orientation and cultural immersion through a unique mix of academic sessions, factory visits, and interactions with CXOs/Business Leaders.
- Corporate immersion - This sort of immersion involves working in Experiential Learning Lab (ELL) in which students will attend to problem statements given by industry partners and will also be able to practice learning under corporate mentors.
- Social Immersion - This type of immersion involves engagement in impact activities, in which students spend 100 hours per year working with NGO partners in observing, analyzing, and weaving sustainable business models around social challenges in order to trigger societal transformation.
