Dr. Sweety Shah is a Lecturer of the S.B.B. College of Physiotherapy, Ahmedabad. She has been working at SBB College of Physiotherapy since 2002 and recently she is working in the capacity of Lecturer in Physiotherapy. She pursued her Masters in Physiotherapy and PhD in Physiotherapy in 2013. She is a Post graduate teacher in Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy and a PhD guide for Physiotherapy. She has attended various National Conferences and published research papers.
Being a Faculty of the S.B.B. College of Physiotherapy, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?
We guide students in the best possible way through clinical classroom teaching. They add on to their existing knowledge about the field. Not only in the field of education we bring out the best potential in each one. Every child has its own uniqueness to sprout their ideas.
How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?
We update knowledge skills and do healthy discussions. Nurturing innovative ideas in the minds of young kids is necessary. One of the best possible ways to understand them is to teach in the simplest way. We provide good two way sessions so that they feel free to clear concepts and help them in future.
How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented in S.B.B. College of Physiotherapy?
Our campus emphasizes on the keystone. That is, clinical decision-making which focuses on the diagnosis, and planning goals on the basis of information provided by the patient. Our main aim is to improve the hands-on treatment they give to their patients.
What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain the necessary skills?
Students are posted in various departments on a rotatory basis. The staff of different subjects expertise guide and teach various skills to pupils. They get techniques, care discussions, seminars, and workshops to pupils.
How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated for the students in S.B.B. College of Physiotherapy?
Our curriculum is designed in such a way that each specialized subject is allotted a certain amount of hours. All these are necessary to absorb the best possible information needed. We improve the quality to be able to compete at par with the overseas curriculum. Also, the updates in the curriculum are made at regular intervals.
What are your views upon the placements and higher education about the students from campus?
Students' basic knowledge is tested, emphasized and engraved from our campus. We brainstorm clinical and classroom sessions with pupils. It prepares them for various competitive exams. All these sessions develop their collateral thinking and clinical expertise along with theoretical knowledge.
How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?
We prepare students to give their best in spite of whatever the situation may be. They get valuable insights such as consistency, sincerity and discipline from our campus to pave for success. There is no substitute for hardwork and sincerity if you want to succeed.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?
Several extracurricular activities like cultural festivals, quiz , sports , creative dance , drama ,quiz ,cooking competitions and other social welfare are arranged for students at regular intervals. This not only refreshes students' daily schedules but also enhances their personality, and confidence. It develops a sportsman spirit which is a must needed quality in these days
What are the challenges you faced to uplift the quality of education of S.B.B. College of Physiotherapy?
In the upcoming years, we have seen mankind facing a number of diseases. To overcome it is a difficult task for all. The lack of enough patients leaves the students updated with just theoretical scales. As this is a clinical branch, a humanistic approach and clinical skills develops only through hands-on practice on patients.
When you came to the S.B.B. College of Physiotherapy, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?
Our vision is to give the best possible education, knowledge, skills and develop students to have their own identities. We develop a Cardiorespiratory department that not only helps patients but also promotes wellbeing. Moreover, the motive is to create awareness about this branch and its importance to colleagues, other professionals and society. Several public awareness programs are conducted in addition to the treatment of numerous patients in ICU especially during the COVID pandemic.
How is the curriculum of S.B.B. College of Physiotherapy ensures the best practice of the industry?
We have various specialties such as IPD and OPD with a good number of patients. It is functioning with optimal hours. Also, each of these are provided with faculties that have marvelous experience and expertise in their own specialty.
How does the S.B.B. College of Physiotherapy enhance skills of the faculty and prepares them according to industry standards?
We provide a platform for independent decision-making pertaining to the work allotted and deal it with responsibility. Our college encourages faculty members to participate in various curricular and extra curricular activities. It enhances their skills which contributes to their personal development.
What are the interventions and approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to train the students?
Students are given tasks which makes them think innovatively and enhances their problem solving skills. We bring innovative ideas or devices to all. It helps in treating patients with less economical burden.

One of the greatest strengths is young, dynamic, enthusiastic staff with expertise in different subjects. They have a strong backbone of good infrastructure facilities. The other most prominent strength is constant change according to students' needs adding on to newer technologies. This gives more exposure to students.
What valuable advice do you like to give for students to have a prosperous career ahead?
You must work hard in your life. Failure should not stop you from trying. There would be hurdles or obstacles. But that would help you discover new horizons that you can fly. God has given this opportunity to serve humanity and to try to make a difference. Keep yourself updated and upgraded always.
