Dr. Anita Arora is Principal at Jyoti Bed College, Fazilka. She obtained her M.A in Economics and the degree of M.Ed, Ph.D. as well as NET qualified. She is the supervisor of M.Ed. and M.Phil Students for their research work. She is also a paper setter at Devi Ahilya University, Indore, and Punjab University, Patiala. She is the Chief Coordinator for the last 14 years to conduct the University Examination. She is a Member of the Curriculum development committee constituted by the Punjab examination of the Punjab University, Chandigarh. She organized National Level Seminars and the University level competitions of other affiliated colleges. She has published ISBN books and is editor-in-chief of 3 ISBN Books. She won State level best “Acharya Award” from “Manab Kalyan Parishad”, Patiala, Punjab.

What was your vision for the College from the start?

“Providing students with the best teacher education college”

I joined the college in Aug 2005 as a founder Principal of the college. The college has evolved during that time. Now the college has its identity as the best teacher education college, having state physical infrastructure and human resources in the area, which lacks educational facilities due to being situated near the Indo-Pak border.

How do you strategize about the key plans for the marketing and administration of your college?

Being the principal of JYOTI B.Ed COLLEGE, I prefer to plan the strategies keeping in view the interests, capabilities, and work experience of my team of faculty and supporting staff. providing a conducive environment, for teaching, learning with the use of modern technology and methods

We know that our country still has great opportunities in education because presently more than 40% of the population needs to be educated. As we are working in the field of teacher education, our 1st priority is to prepare quality teachers who can teach our folks efficiently yet we are also aware of today’s day's demands of modern life thus we prepare our pupil teachers as techno-savvy.

In the process of preparing quality teachers for society, our program does not confine to the syllabus or curricular activities only our college is providing a large range of co-curricular and extension activities such as cultural activities, folk art, and heritage activities, literary activities- essay, story, poem, and prose writing, etc, drama dance and fine arts-related and sports & Yoga activities so that the pupil-teacher can be evolved as a full-fledged teacher.

How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in the college for students from different backgrounds?

Our college environment is so conducive as well as disciplined for work and expression for teachers and students. The institutional calendar of activities has been scheduled in such a way that a single student has to work with different teams and different teachers so all students get equal opportunities to grow. So far as students of economically weaker section or SC, OBC, etc category are concerned several types of scholarships are provided.

As ours is a professional college, most of our students have cleared the CTET and CTET exams to join the government. About 75% of students joined as teachers in Govt. or Private schools. The college provides guidance and library facilities for current as well as alumni also for their preparation.

Nowadays youth, especially male students, are lacking their interest in teacher education courses or teaching professions. I would like to attract their attention to the fact that the education industry in India has a huge opportunity to grow. There are lacs of vacancies and opportunities will be created in govt. and private schools and online education. Keeping in view the size of our population and education is a basic need to live in modern-day society, Teaching is the best career option for an intelligent and innovative student and teacher education courses provide such skills and training that reshape the whole personality of a student into the teacher.
