Ms Manisha Dogra is presently serving as Assistant Professor at Beehive Group of Colleges, Dehradun. Holding a MBA degree in Finance specialization from Uttarakhand Technical University, she has a vast working and teaching experience in the Insurance and Finance sector. Also, she has developed more than 100 dissertation reports for students under her supervision.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Practical-oriented teaching and career guidance”

As a faculty of the Management Department, my first and utmost important priority is to assist students with the learning process and applying the comprehension to develop methodology to educate students. Also, providing information to students about job opportunities in their respective field and guiding them on career opportunities is my role in their lives. I always ensure quality maintenance and carry out research programs in the department for the students, and organize need based workshops, seminars, symposia, visits etc. by co-coordinating with the concerned HOD. 


How do you tend to establish healthy relations within your college?

“Connecting and incorporating interests of each other”

I always try to develop mutual trust and understanding by providing support of every kind- academic, psychological, whenever possible, to my students and colleagues. I always respect boundaries, limitations, seniority and encourage open communication among co-workers. Also, I always try to appreciate each fellow faculty’s role and the efforts towards their department and institution. We host virtual morning meetings where we invite students and staff to share about themselves or any problem they are facing. 


What best practices do you offer that help students gain necessary skills?

“Developing opportunities for growth and enhancement”

We at our department, reinforce active listening; faculty help their students to develop listening skills and enhance practice by clarifying their own strengths. Communicating with parents helps to emphasize how important it is to have a positive frame of mind of any children, before getting into a particular career program. The department has also launched a platform for students where they can show their talent, skills and creativity among all the fellow peer groups. We always encourage students to improve their skills by pursuing internships and training programs during vacations. Students are encouraged to compete in external competitions like sports, fests, innovation contests etc. for which students are certified with awards and appreciation kits that boost their confidence.

What do you see as the college’s greatest strengths?

“Great facilities and experienced faculty”

The college has a decent infrastructure with approximately all the necessary facilities that are required by the students. Classrooms are spacious and comfortable. The course curriculum is very productive and well designed. Faculty members in the college are highly qualified and knowledgeable, they are friendly in nature and have good experience in teaching. 


What valuable advice would you like to give to the students?

“Cultivate your strengths and keep learning”

Work harder and be willing to sacrifice some things to build the bright career you want. Be always ready to prepare yourself to try new roles in, and learn everything you can and believe in your potential. Be creative and think outside the box; always be real and dedicated towards your efforts and goals. Remember always, stress is a fact of life, but it should never become a way of life. 


How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Training, Internships and Industrial projects”

Summer training, full-term optional and compulsory internships, ‘On-the-job’ training, study tours, and skill enhancement events and workshops are extensively integrated in the curriculum. We expose students to real work environments and provide an opportunity to apply their learning in real life situations through different projects. On-site experience has been gained by our students through industry internships in corporate giants. Moreover, the department offers various opportunities for students to work directly with industry on Live and Entrepreneurial projects.

What approaches do you bring in apart from curriculum to train the students?

“Regular interactions and expert integrations”

Industry projects and training give our students insights about the latest trends in the corporate world and help them become competitive and ready for the real world. Diverse skills of students are enhanced by developing teaching through case studies and guest sessions; the college also tries to provide industry exposure to the students and increase the “students to faculty ratio.” We also focus on placement and employability of our students and bring in reputed companies to the campus for recruitment. I help to invite guest speakers for interaction and guidance with UG & PG students as well. Moreover, Problem solving, small group discussions etc. are implemented in the classroom sessions.
