Date: August 2, 2021

TPT student M.Athik Mohamed of final year Civil Engineering has interacted with our Honourable Prime Minister of India, Sri Narendra Modi Ji, during the Grand Finale of Digital Edition of the Toycothan, a Nationwide competition jointly launched by the Ministry of Education, WCD Ministry, MSME Ministry, DPIIT, Textile Ministry, I&B Ministry and AICTE.

Totally 7 teams were selected for the final interaction session with the Honourable Prime Minister Ji and our TPT students have emerged as the finalists from among 1.2 lakh students and start-ups to take part in the interaction.

Athik presented his digitally connected action racing toy - “Heritage Race” - that promotes Indian culture and heritage by allowing the user to view historic monuments in a virtual environment while cycling indoors. What makes “Heritage Walk” unique is that users on a regular bicycle can follow ‘heritage paths’ and listen to soothing Vedic music in the background.

Honourable Prime Minister Modi Ji appreciated the new game idea and suggested that the team devise a similar mechanism for a treadmill user. Athik assured the PM to work on his suggestions along with team members Deepesh M and Anung Yangfo K

While creating a Virtual Reality (VR) experience with visualization of Indian monuments and ancient cities, Athik and his team mates improved “Digital Race” by combining an element of exercise and mental fitness by adding soothing vedic music in the background. And that turned out to be a major reason for being one of the top 6 entries reviewed by the Prime Minister, Junior Education Minister and officials of the Education Ministry and the AICTE. While riding a stationary cycle the user with an inexpensive VR headset with the “Heritage Race” app on a smartphone can move in the virtual world with 360-degree experience.

Athik thanked Dr.V.Karthikeyan, Principal, S.Loganathan, Head of Department, Ms.M.Ponni, Mentor for bringing out the best in the team by guiding and motivating them to pursue this project by providing technical and financial support.

Sri.C.Valliappa, Chairman, Vice Chairman Sri.Chocko ValliappaSri.Thyagu Valliappa and Dr.V.Karthikeyan, Principal congratulated Athik and team for their innovative toy and the spontaneous interaction with the Prime Minister.
