"Satisfaction I receive by teaching students and my thirst to learn new things"

I started my career in academics with VESCOA and I have had a phenomenal experience so far. The college has always endeavored to stay contemporary and is in a constant quest to enrich the knowledge of students. Education sector equips me with constant learning wherein I get to interact regularly with students, understand their perspective on various topics and teach them new concepts. Academic field also provides me with the satisfaction that I am playing a key role in shaping the future architects.

Being the Professor at VESCOA, what are your responsibilities towards the students?

"Taking regular classes, assisting students for their academic queries and conducting events"

As a full-time faculty at VESCOA, I ensure personal and professional growth of the students. As a core faculty of the college, I assist in development of subject briefs, conducting lectures, conducting exams and evaluation of the same as per Mumbai University norms. And as a class coordinator, I have to ensure that I keep a tab on students’ concerns related to their academic performance and guide them in their courses. I also help drive the Student Council activities by working closely with the Council members as a Students Council Faculty Head. Lastly, I guide students to organize and draft the event program and ensure seamless execution of those events throughout the year. I also accompany students and represent college for events like NASA and ZONAL NASA.

Which extracurricular activities are organized by college to expose students to real-world challenges?

"Sports and cultural events along with physical activities like yoga sessions, heritage walks are organized"

VESCOA works for the all round development of students and all the faculty works towards that objective. And we have developed a few platforms for our students to develop their talents. Our college also conducts annual sports and cultural events for the benefit of students. We also encourage students to present their talent during the celebration of traditional Indian festivals. To sensitize the students towards Indian Ethos and environment, we conduct workshops on yoga, meditation, healthy diet, heritage walks and nature walks etc. The college also has several clubs like photography, sketching, music, in which the interested students get together on a regular basis to hone their extra-curricular skills.

"By regularly conducting industry connect sessions on a regular basis"

Our college has signed MOUs with leading academic institutions to make our students aware about the latest happenings of industries and their expectations from them. And we regularly invite practicing Architects, Senior Academicians, Material Vendors, industry experts and workshop facilitators to interact with students and share their knowledge and experiences.

Which approaches do you bring in apart from curriculum to teach the students?

"We assign real time projects and organize inter college and intra college competitions"

To enrich students’ learning experience, our college and faculties take different types of initiatives. We also encourage our students to participate in live projects as part of their design subject in their semester so that they can use their skills and find solutions for those challenges. Apart from this, we conduct intra-college design competitions on national and international level. Lastly, we organize VESCOA Design Excellence Awards every year, a state level competition to encourage the students of B. Arch course towards an innovative Sustainable/Alternative approach towards exploring building materials/techniques in their Design Studio of 2nd or 3rd year of the course.
