What are your roles and responsibilities?

“To develop professional logistics for improvising the performance of students”

Being a faculty, I am responsible for sharing my knowledge with my students and helping them achieve their goals. I will not only train them for their future but will also teach them to be good people and responsible citizens. I'll play a tripartite role of being a teacher, a guardian, and a friend too.

What do you see as the college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

“Academic Section is the greatest strength of our college”

The greatest strength of my college is Academics. We at NSU provide the best academics all over Jamshedpur. We prepare our curriculum as per the latest rules and try to keep children updated always. Highly qualified teachers, guest lecturers, guest seminars are some of our greatest strengths.

What are the approaches you bring in apart from the curriculum to teach the students?

“Provide students with the concept of Economics for developing their thoughts”

Since Economics is related to the dynamism of the Indian Economy, we keep students updated with the current economic trend or issues. We conduct seminars, workshops and also encourage students to attend international webinars in order to enhance their knowledge. Be it the annual budget or the hike in petrol prices, daily discussions in class are a major source of information for the students in my department.

How does the department enhance the skills of the faculty?

“Provide Faculty with the FDP and prepare them according to the industry standards”

We attend webinars and seminars on different topics related to our subject. FDP is conducted once a month. Being updated with the current economic condition has been the only aim of the Economics Department since the beginning.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach to the curriculum?

“Providing students with industry-oriented meets, webinars, and workshops”

The only way to bring in a practical approach is to let students analyze the topics on their own first, let them do their research, and then share it in class. With this, the students get to share their valuable thoughts and also get acquainted with their classmate's views. The curriculum of the department is effective and ensures best practices of the industry in terms of its competence to facilitate faculty’s performance. We ensure that the best education practices like providing individual activities, new policies are put to use in order to achieve positive results in the attitude as well as academics of the students.

What are the challenges you faced to uplift the quality of education of your department?

“Challenges are a part of life whether personal or professional”

In an institute, there are different challenges that we need to overcome to impart quality-based education. Every student has different traits and abilities. Thus we need to apply extra efforts to some students and adopt variable teaching practices. This can be tough sometimes, but as a faculty devoted to imparting best to the kids is what motivates and keeps me striving.

Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the student?

“Provide Students with extracurricular programs to expose them to the real-world challenges”

Yes. We do have extracurricular activities and programs. We have different clubs in our university named as Photography club, Dance and dramatics club, sports club. We are also having NSS CELL and ROTARACT CLUB. The students get opportunities to work with different societies under the mentors' guidance. We also conduct a Yearly fest named XPLORE which is hosted by us and is among one of the grand fests of Jamshedpur.

How do you help your students cope with the competition?

“Students should keep themselves updated with the economics curriculum”

We keep students updated with the changing world and economics. We give them different assignments and don’t restrict them to the curriculum only. They are encouraged to share whatever knowledge or questions they have in their mind regarding the outside world and we as teachers do share our experience and knowledge in that context.

How does your department prepare students for higher education?

“Provide students with full-fledged training to prepare for the higher studies”

My department guarantees full-fledged training of students in order to prepare them for higher education or placements. Since Economics students need a higher degree in order to achieve their goals, we in our department give a full insight into the curriculum, and parallel to it, we strive to better the soft skills and industry requisite training of the students.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“The best practice is student-teacher interaction”

We encourage students to give their views on certain economic issues or conduct a debate in order to enhance their public speaking skills. Whatever is required apart from bookish knowledge is provided to students in my department. I being an extrovert don’t find it difficult to talk to someone or to maintain healthy relations with my students and fellow faculties. Listening to them and being for them is the only way I follow in order to maintain my relationships.

Any valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

“Believe in yourself and work hard”

According to me, there is no shortcut to success. You need to work hard to achieve your goals. Also, you should work smartly and stay updated with the dynamic economy. If you want to do something, do it with your whole heart, soul, and mind.
