Dr. Vijayta Sharma is the Principal of Modern Group of Colleges, Pandori Bhagat. She holds an M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in Microbiology and more than ten years of teaching experience. Her five research publications are in reputed journals. She has also guided the postgraduate project works of twelve students at Punjabi University, Patiala.

How would you describe your leadership style?

My leadership is on the idea that teachers inspire students and guide them by showing them the right path. The success of my institute is due to our experienced and knowledgeable faculty. They are only the teachers who transform naive minds into ‘nation-builders’ and good human beings.

What do you want people to know about MGC?

Our institute has a best-in-class campus with all the modern amenities like modern laboratories, sports grounds, and professional societies. We believe in ‘outcome-based teaching-learning and offer the latest engineering courses with dual specialization where the students can choose a minor degree in the desired domain with a major degree in the core branch. 

What are your Institute’s greatest strengths?

We have a vast network of alumni globally that guide our current students in grooming migration, jobs, sporting and technical advice. They also provide scholarships to needy and deserving students. We also have very supportive teaching and non-teaching staff, and their contributions are unforgettable.

What key factors kept you connected with the education sector?

Several factors kept me connected with the education sector. Serving humankind with education is one of the honorable services. I feel cheerful and satisfied by guiding the students according to their skills and interests, and expectations in their respective fields. I also provide them with abundant opportunities in industry and society to make us of skills and knowledge. 

How is your college more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

The fee structure of our college is very nominal and in line with standards defined by the Government of Punjab, and we do not ask for fancy charges from students for anything. Our institute’s environment is healthy, and we treat all students equally regardless of their caste, creed, or religion. 

What are your roles and responsibilities for the college and students?

As head of the institution, I work to provide quality education to students. I also promote their participation in extracurricular activities, personality development programs, and soft skill training for their holistic development. For the institute, I enhance its business value and achieve set up educational goals.
