What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Being able to help aspiring students through my knowledge & experience in the hospitality sector”

I am a hotel management graduate and I understand the problems and requirements of this industry. What we are taught in school and colleges, and what the industry requires is quite different. Also if I talk about hotel management specifically then it needs continuous revival in curriculum and lots of practical exposure. So probably this huge gap inspired me to stick with this industry so that this new generation can proficiently handle various issues.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“Bringing everyone on the same page for smooth administration of the institution is very important”

I believe in having personal interaction with everyone be it my students or my colleagues. And that’s why we organize lots of events where we get to interact informally also. And through these events, I want to understand their problems, expectations, and suggestions. Team bonding is a major point that I focus on.

How does your curriculum ensure the best industry practices?

“Extensive focus on practical aspects of this industry”

I believe in more practical knowledge than anything. This industry needs continuous updating. It needs global exposure just to understand the needs of the guest. So keeping the requirement in mind we keep modifying our curriculum. The international tour, Five-star hotel stay, are part of the curriculum so that every student of ISHM can understand the needs of guests and give the best service.

What do you think should be your University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Enhancing the ability of individuals to become self-reliant”

In the present time every student, especially those who come for hospitality or hotel management wants job security. Though this should not be the only priority. The main focus should always be acquiring knowledge and be able to create some employment rather than getting employment. That’s why in ISHM we have introduced a new course of entrepreneurship. So that we can produce say 50% of employers and 50% employees.

What are the steps taken by your University to tackle the COVID-19 situation?

“An online portal for students to get all the relevant notification, updates about online classes”

We have shifted to the online mode of teaching. We have planned our routine in a way where students get normal classes as well as doubt clearing classes also. We provide the recorded videos of every class to the students so that in the future if they want to revise any topic they can easily do so.

What do you see as your University’s greatest strengths?

“The students and our practical-based curriculum are our biggest strengths”

We call the students our strength because they are the one who represents us globally & put their faith in us. We believe in imparting more practical knowledge than bookish knowledge because it’s the skills that matter more in the job market. We try to give our students as much exposure during their course as possible.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Dedication & determination towards achieving long term milestones in your life”

The only mantra of being a good human being, a successful human being is to seek excellence. Whatever you do in life, just try to chase excellence. Focus on your skill development for long-term success, rather than short-term goals.
