Mr. Dr. Samba Siva Rao has been working as the Dean of NRI Institute of Technology, Krishna, Andhra Pradesh. He is an expert educator and professional with a passion for continuous learning. He has done B.E from the University of Mysore, M.E. from Bits Pilani and PhD from IIT Delhi. Apart from this, he has a rich 25+ years of experience in Academics, Research, Teaching, Training and Consultancy. Also, he is actively involved in guiding and performing research on various facets of Technologies and he is also a hard core academician who believes that powerful learning can transform students into amazing Engineers. And being a resolute educationalist, he has endeavored to publish textbooks and research papers which outline his educational tendencies. He is a paragon of energy, enthusiasm, productiveness, and competence whose intellectual ability and propriety go all the way in nurturing the students and faculty members to create a collaborative partnership.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

We can clearly observe that in today's time, the industrial sector is much ahead of the educational world which ultimately creates a gap, so my motto to join the education sector was to bridge this gap and educate students to provide professional competent and responsible citizens to society.

Being the Dean of NRI Institute of Technology, what is your philosophy of leadership?

For me, true leadership is all about dealing effectively with people having different mindsets and skills and achieving common goals by using available resources in the best way possible. And as a Dean, it's important for me to work in line with recent advancements and research trends and innovative learning practices. Apart from this, implementation of National Education Policy, getting accreditations for our college and maintaining the quality of services and education we offer to students. Last but not the least, I want my students to remain motivated for developing new skills and do the certifications for the same.

How do you strategize the key programs for the marketing and administration of your institution?

We offer a wide variety of internships to students and also arrange necessary training programs to prepare students for national level events. In addition to this, faculty development programs are conducted in association with industry experts and reputed institutions to keep them updated with outside world happenings.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practices of industry?

We design and update the curriculum of our college after rigorously analyzing the requirements and developments of both the industrial and educational world. And as and when required, we invite industry experts to work in collaboration with us and educate our students on various topics, hence industry best practices automatically come into the picture.

How is your college more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

We grant admission to students in our courses based on their score in EAMCET which is conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. So there are zero chances of any kind of discrimination as everyone gets admission as per the reservation criteria defined by the government of Andhra Pradesh.

What are your roles and responsibilities for the institution and students?

Being a Dean, I am responsible for the growth of students and providing them with the best learning opportunities. In addition to this, keeping students motivated so that they can focus on their studies and organizing extracurricular activities in college on a regular basis also comes under the scope of my day to day work.

What do you think should be the institute's top priority over the next 10 years?

I firmly believe that our goal for upcoming years should be to develop a standard Curriculum in accordance with global benchmarks and requirements. This is because an institution is known for the quality of education and professional it delivers to society.

When you first joined NRI Institute of Technology, what was your vision for the institute?

My aim when I joined this institution 9 years back was to work for the betterment of our students and college itself. And from the time I am working here, due to everyone's joint efforts and committed attitude towards their work, we have been accredited by NAAC with A grade as well as by NBA for two times. Apart from this, we have received Autonomous status for our college and award of best band performer in ARIIA along with many national rankings. And now we are aiming to showcase our strengths and performance at the national forum.

What would you like people to know about your college that makes it unique?

"We have an amazing placement record every year and our Alumni are treated as best in industries and society"

We offer the best quality education to students and we have an impressive placement by record. And students who have graduated out of our institution are treated as best performers in industry, academics and society.

What do you see as your college's greatest strengths?

The greatest strengths of our college are our highly qualified and experienced faculty members, ultra modern and impressive infrastructure along with latest equipment we have in laboratories and procedures and practices we do follow while educating students.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see for both, higher education in general?

The biggest challenge for higher education institutions nowadays is the declining interest of students in courses like M. Tech. And as many students don't want to pursue M. Tech, so seats remain vacant and it affects institutions in multiple ways.

Any valuable advice which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

"Set realistic goals for yourself and keep your learning pace aligned with your goals"

I would like to suggest to my dear students and youths of our society to think innovatively and set realistic goals for themselves. And always keep your goals and learning expectations aligned with each other. Last but not the least, keep working hard and stay focused in life.

How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute?

For the purpose of establishing a good relationship with everyone in my college, I regularly interact with them to know their interests and passion along with issues and hurdles they are facing so that I can resolve them on time. In addition to this, a wide variety of technical, social and cultural events are organized by us on a regular basis to inculcate best skills in everyone and provide them a platform to showcase their unique talents. Because I firmly believe that when right learning windows are offered to young minds, their relationship with their teachers improves magically.
