Mr. S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal is designated as the President of Chandigarh Group of Colleges. He is a visionary engaged in spreading technical education across India. Under his leadership, the institute has made excellent progress within a short span of time. Apart from this, he also takes a keen interest in various social welfare activities.

Mr. Dhaliwal has been conferred several prestigious awards including a Leadership award from the Europian University of Rome, International Award for Best-Maintained Campus of Punjab, National Education Excellence Award for being the Most Innovative Group of Colleges in Punjab and many more. In an exclusive interview with collegedunia.com, the academician shares his views on the education industry in India and his goals for CGC.

It is a matter of pride to be the President of such a successful institute. I manage the planning and working of this college with the help of highly talented faculty members. They have a strong experience of working in premier institutions like Punjab Engineering College and other leading institutes. They have been continuously supporting me in taking the institutions to greater heights. 


Collaborations with foreign institutes and associated benefits

CGC Jhanjeri has signed MOUs with several foreign universities and colleges for mutual exchange of students and faculty. With these collaborations, our students will get an opportunity to take internships or pursue higher education in these universities. It will also help them in exploring placement avenues abroad. A number of our students have already visited these countries for various internship programs, and some are pursuing their studies abroad.

Dr. Dhaliwal’s Leadership philosophy and style

I believe in a simple philosophy wherein a leader should regularly work to avoid the accumulation of burden. I follow the Stick & Carrot Policy, wherein I appreciate as well as criticize my team members timely. Doing so helps them to know their weaknesses as well as strengths.

At the end of each academic session, we do an appraisal of the work of each individual based on many predefined and well-circulated parameters. Based on this, all employees are given various awards & annual increments having a wide range.


CGC – A hub to promote Research activities

The institute organizes Research & Development activities for the students as well as faculty members. It covers all the expenses of the research, projects, presentations, and other things. With all these expenses, the college motivates the students to participate in curricular as well as co-curricular activities. The benefits accrued out of this work are transferred to the researchers. 

Our students have been winning hefty cash prizes in various Inter-college Project Display competitions. In addition to this, based on innovative ideas of staff and students of this college, several patents have been filed. Whenever some commercial benefits come, these will be transferred to both staff & students.

Whenever you start a new organization, the biggest challenge is to earn the faith and confidence of the parents as well as students. For this, we provide excellent infrastructure, well-equipped labs, library and highly qualified faculty. This gave us desirable results in academics as well as sports and other curricular activities.

A culture promoting healthy learning and development of all

At CGC Jhanjeri, utmost importance is given to academics’ standards. We have maintained appropriate discipline in the college and encourage students to attend lectures. The Institutions provide remedial classes to weak students we give utmost importance to academics and then the placement of our students. For this, we maintain appropriate discipline in the college and aim at our students attending 100% classes. Weak students are given extra care to bring them at par with others while the brighter students are given additional coaching so that they do still better. 

It is due to these efforts of our staff that the students of CGC Jhanjeri have been capturing the highest number of positions in the Merit Lists of IKG Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar and our college has produced a record number of PTU toppers.


Upcoming plans for CGC Jhanjeri

The Institutions are planning to introduce new courses as per the market and academic requirements. We are also planning to set up Law College, Architecture College, Pharmacy College with a number of other courses. In the coming years, we plan to start more courses at Postgraduate level and also promote research scholars for Ph.D. programs.


Time management tips by Mr. Dhaniwal

Students should manage their time accordingly to achieve success in their life. The key to success lies in completing the tasks on time. One should never postpone it for tomorrow because it will only accumulate it. 

A student’s life is full of new opportunities, and they should never miss a chance to grasp it. The only struggle that they will go through is lack of time, if not appropriately managed. Further, along with studies, students should take part in extracurricular activities as well. All this will keep their life hassle and tension free. 


Suggestions to students and teachers

There is no dearth of opportunities in this world. If a person works hard sincerely, his efforts will never go in vain. My advice to the students and teachers is not to get disheartened if they face failure in life. With the changing time, the students must keep themselves updated and contribute to the development of the nation. We expect them to devote their whole energy towards the betterment of society.
