What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Education teaches me to face life and encourage students”

My belief is that education is beneficial for life. It is not only for qualification or to earn money for economic stability. According to me, education teaches me how to face life. I believe in it widely and encourage students to attain a good education. 


How do you strategize programs and plans for the administration of St. Ann's College of Education, Mangalore?

“Provide training, conduct programs, and give course details through social platforms”

We conduct wide programs like Graduation Day, sports fest and cultural activities in the institution. It ensures the upgradation of our students. Several classroom management techniques organized by us for faculties and students. We train students for different types of schools like State Board, CBSE, ICSC and some of the students are working in international schools. A great pillar of strength of the college is a team. Our campus contains a strategic planning and contains a good name. We didn’t struggle a lot towards marketing because students come in search of our campus. Most students make their first preference is St. Ann.


How does the curriculum of St. Ann’s College of Education ensures the best practice of industry?

“Provide practical training, placements and internships for students”

We cater to the needs of the society and more CBSE schools are on the rise. Our campus consists of a sort of agreement like an MOU that is still in the planning stage with the International Association. Experts will train our students and cater to needs. Our education curriculum includes new approaches, and methodologies. Students developed the instructional packages, and teaching techniques. We teach them a variety of teaching techniques compared to other colleges. Our college caters to the present needs and there is a great demand for our students..


How is St. Ann's College of Education, Mangalore welcomes students of different economic backgrounds?

“Provide scholarships, and staff sponsor the education for economic background pupils”

Several students on campus came from poor economic backgrounds. They get some government and minority scholarships. We guide them appropriately and scholarships for merit holders available from campus. Ours is a minority institution and we take great care of pupils. We have some scholarship funds, and our staff sponsor the education for children. In this way, we cater to the needs of students coming from different economic backgrounds. These students are from other states like Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Himachal Pradesh. So, we catered their needs and celebrated their culture.

What do you like people to know about campus they may not know?

“Service-Learning program, research center and placement are provided to students”

Our research culture in college is strong and the research center is under Mangalore University. It offers a PhD program in education. We are considered as the first college in Mangalore University to have a research institute outside the university. 45 students have been awarded PhD from the campus. It is the highest achievement for Mangalore university department from our college. Our alumni include overseas students, and PhD scholars all over India. We cater research culture not only at the PhD level, but also from BD level itself. Our campus provides a Service-Learning program for the betterment of students. 


What do you see as St. Ann’s College of Education’s greatest strengths?

“Faculties, previous alumni and students are our greatest strengths”

Our alumni hold various positions in the government. Faculties and students are our greatest strengths. Our former students include recent principles of government training, college principal, CRP and more. We are proud of their achievements. Most of our alumni are principals of teacher education institutions or in schools abroad. 


What challenges do you see for higher education and St. Ann’s College of Education specifically?

“Implementation of NAAC, and well-financed resources are greatest challenges for campus”

One of the greatest challenges is imparting NAAC. Another one is to convert the institution into multidisciplinary. It is due to lack of resources and financial resources. Most of the students come from very economically poor backgrounds. Hence, we cannot raise fees at all is another challenge we face. 


Any suggestions do you like to give for current youth and aspiring students?

“Overcome the challenges and achieve your goal”

It is essential to face the real world after a college education. A man comes out ready to take challenges. It includes the field and professional challenges. Individuals have the right to choose their career. It helps to achieve your goal. 


What plans that you’re currently designing for St. Ann’s College of Education international affairs and students?

“Tie up with international industries, and make use of resources for pupils”

We plan to tie up with the international industries and decide to partner with IB International. It helps our students to get into IB schools. We make use of resources and tie up with the corporate sector. We always bring out the good for the society.


What is the rate of admissions in St. Ann's College of Education, Mangalore compared to last year?

“Good number of applications for B.ed and Ph.D programs to pupils”

We get accurate demand in B.ed programs and worry about M.ed courses. The pg program was made two years ago by the central government. One of the challenges is to take care of it. Otherwise, we access a good number of candidates' applications in Ph.D courses.


Do you have any extra-curricular activities to enhance the skills of the students to expose real-world challenges?

“Self-defense, yoga, classical dance, NLP training and other activities are available for students”

Our campus organizes various extracurricular activities as a part of curriculum. We conduct new things almost every day. They can participate in drama, self-defense, yoga, and classical dance. All these things are taught by us along with guidance and counseling. On other hand, NLP training is given to students. Several activities that help students on campus and increase creative writing, Workshops, and family life education.

How do you guide your students to survive in a competitive scenario?

“Organize moral science classes, and CAT Exam classes for students”

We prepare students to face challenges in the competition area. My advice for students is to compete with your own self. It is the best competition that you can get. They learn to compete with themselves. We conduct moral science classes, and CAT Exam classes for all. Students get guidance to face life and mentoring helps them in a good way. Constant guidance is given to the students by faculties.
