Dr. K Suresh Kumar has been working as the Vice Principal of KMCH College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He has an amazing teaching experience of 21+ years and he is specialised in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. He has done B.Pharm, M.Pharm and PhD as part of his academics. He has also published 4 publications and has guided around 45 students to publish their papers.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with education?

"My curious attitude and eagerness to educate others have kept me associated with this sector"

Teaching has been my passion since forever and I love doing research on different things. And because of this I have been working with KMCH institution since 2004. So I would say my eagerness to know things and desire to share my knowledge with others have kept me connected with the education sector for long. 

What is your philosophy of leadership? 

"I believe in participative kind of leadership"

Leadership for me is simply leading and guiding the people in such a way that it can open doors of opportunities for them depending on their skills set. And if I talk about my way of working with people and leading them, then everytime I take any decision, I try my best to include everyone in the decision making process and take their inputs and suggestions. Because when people are given the right platform to speak and be listened to then they feel more valued and work while heartedly for the institute. 

Being the Vice Principal, how do you strategize the key program for marketing and administration of your school?

"By providing best amenities to students since they can market our college better than us"

I strongly believe that if the best quality education will be provided to our students to ensure their overall development then ultimately our students will prove to be the best ambassadors for college. Students experience describe an institution more better than written words and we can only gain this by providing the best amenities and education to students.

How is your institute more welcoming to students of different races, economical backgrounds and states?

"We accept students application for admission in various courses from all over country"

We cherish the diversity of students that we have in our campus and we do have students of different races, economical backgrounds and states like Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh etc. And we have a good strength of international students too. The reason here is that we don't discriminate between students on any basis and offer them equal opportunities to learn and grow.

What do you think is the greatest strength of your college?

"Our faculties and research facilities we have made available for them makes us strong"

Our highly qualified and extensively experienced faculty members who are actually experts in their respective domains are our main pillars of strength in addition to our research publications.

Any advice which you would like to give to the students to have prosperous careers ahead?

"Don't let technology consume your skills, us social media as less as possible"

I believe there is no need to give any special kind of advice or suggestions to today's youths and students because they are very knowledgeable. But I would like to tell them that don't let technology become a curse for yourself rather than a blessing, as it will slowly consume your thinking capability, degrade focusing powers and will lead you to nowhere. So instead of wasting your time on social media and mindlessly scrolling things, acquire some good technical skills that can benefit you in the long run.

What challenges are you facing while trying to uplift the education quality of your institute? 

"Making students attentive towards their studies is a real issue for us"

Bringing back students' focus towards their studies after this covid pandemic is a real challenge for us. Because students are not used to offline classes anymore and they have become so restless now that they even start sleeping in the 1st hour of the sessions.

Our vision is to nurture world class pharmaceutical professionals and researchers. And our mission is to provide the finest infrastructure, state-of-the–art technology and training to the students and faculty. In addition to this, we aspire to encourage high quality research in drug discovery in collaboration with industries, to implement modern pedagogical methods in class rooms and laboratories for improving teaching-learning process and lastly to inculcate and maintain national and international level of excellence in undergraduate, post graduate and research programs.

The students of our institute are trained in a 1000 bedded multi specialty KMCH hospital as per the requirements of curriculum prescribed by Pharmacy Council of India and the TamilNadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai. And students during their training period learn about aspects like sterile preparation, compounding, storage, requisition and prescription handling in both outpatient and inpatient pharmacy.
