Albin Mathew George undergraduate B.Tech student in the department of Mechanical Engineering Toms College of Engineering, Kottayam has won the First prize for his paper titled “Design and extraction of Arrowroot (Curcuma angustifolia) starch by screw extruder: Preparation, Assembly and End product development” in the Material Science & Manufacturing Stream at INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AND ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES-URJA 2021 Under the aegis of Yukthi 2021 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering on 24th to 26th September 2021

Albin Mathew George’s paper is novel and have a greater role in current scenario. According to the project their newly developed machine can handle bulk production with low labour and less time. In addition, it can also reduce human efforts also can be easy for waste management and hygienic production. The cost can also reduce by his suggested method. 

Best paper award is selected by a dedicated committee of experienced community members. Awards recognize outstanding work from the pool of accepted papers. Best paper committees use a variety of criteria to select the best paper including potential impact to the community, the importance of any results obtained, technical challenges overcome, etc.
