Dr. Manpreet Kaur is the Assistant Professor (CSE) in Pragati College, Raipur (Chhattisgarh). She has 1 year of teaching experience in Mathematics. She holds multiple accomplishments including the Young Scientist Award for presentation of research paper in the discipline of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, MANF UGC fellowship, 6 gold medals for securing first position in the merit list of universities in graduation. She has attended multiple workshops, conferences and national level training programmes from the time span of March 2014 - June 2016 and has published 10 papers till date.
What are your roles and responsibilities as a faculty?

As a faculty, my basic commitments towards students are effective classroom teaching, general counseling along with academic guidance, departmental work, research related activities etc.
How do you ensure healthy relations with both students and faculty?
“Trust and effective communication are the key pointers to ensure healthy relationship be it with students or colleagues”
Trust is the essence to ensure a healthy relationship everywhere you go, be it with students or our colleagues or even in our personal life as well. Along with trust, effective communication is equally important to work together in a synchronous manner. Students are more likely to get engaged in learning and have better academic outcomes in this kind of environment.
How do you address the subject to make it more practical and industry oriented?
“Practical approach is a must to adopt approach while teaching a subject like mathematics”
I teach Mathematics to students and it is not a subject we need to memorize, the subject itself depends on practical and theorems and hence can be taught in more abstract and pure form. Everyone at some point in time definitely uses math for a practical purpose. During classes, by giving some real life examples I tell students about why they are learning any particular topic, its history along with its practical use.
Which extracurricular activities are conducted to equip students to tackle real-world obstacles?
“By administering students with activities such as trips, social camps, workshops etc”
As we all are aware of that only studies 24*7 for students won’t be beneficial and we must provide and environment for co-curricular exercises to boost their mind and body. Therefore, a lot of extracurricular activities are organized in our college in addition to Annual function on a regular basis for students such as Picnic and trips, sports competition, social awareness program, seminar and workshops and annual cultural program 'JAZZ', which prepares them to face problems in real-world with a fresh and enthusiastic mind. We strive to provide the best possible education environment to our students.

What were your expectations from the college while joining as an Assistant Professor?
“To make learning easy, impart knowledge in best possible way and encourage students to be more productive”
My mantra as an assistant professor is to make learning easy and impart knowledge in the best possible way. What I really expect from the CSE department is to provide all required facilities to encourage students to be more creative and learn modern technologies which can help them address a wide variety of challenges in their future endeavors. As my expectations from the department are high, I keep myself updated by continuously gaining knowledge and improving my teaching skills.
Any specific methodologies you use to impart knowledge besides defined curriculum?
“By providing collaborative learning, independent thinking, and group discussions”
We ensure to Create a space for all learners to engage, process and represent their learning by supporting ownership and providing flexibility. Our main aim is to focus on collaborative learning, independent thinking, and group discussions. By implementing these leadership skills and strategies students can attain excellent educational outcomes because It not only provides the students opportunity to think deeply but also allow them to put forward their queries and apply creative ways to solve hurdles.
What are the greatest strengths of Pragati College?

No doubt, teachers are the greatest strength for any educational institution and so is ours. Most faculties in our college are either NET/SET qualified or Ph.D. qualified. As far as enhancement of this strength is concerned, we can improve it by continuously improving and updating our teaching skills in line with the current demand.

What advice would you like to give to your students?
“Expand your knowledge, learn multiple skills and be aware about latest happening”
I want to convey to my students that you should expand your knowledge, learn multiple skills in college and last but not the least and unfold your prejudiced opinions/thoughts for those so called less useful skills, because now or then these skills will be used in your career. They may come in handy one day but keep pushing yourself beyond your limitations since the key is explanation.
