Prof. Nilesh C.Ghuge is working as Training and Placement Officer and Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department at Matoshri College of Engineering and Research Centre. He has done PhD in Mechanical Engineering.Prof Ghuge also completed MBA in Marketing. He has a total of 20 years of experience in Teaching and Industry. His research interest is Minimum Quantity Lubrication and Cutting Fluids. He has delivered talks for Students at various Institutes on Personality Development and Campus Placement. He has also served as a member of the Program Committee, Reviewer and Session Chair for various National and International Conferences. He has published 73 research papers in association with others.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“To provide best guidance to them”

As a Mechanical Faculty member, I am involved in regular mentoring, teaching, and technical upgradation of the students. Being a Training and Placement officer of the institute, I am conducting training of the students as well as motivating them to get a good job.


How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“By providing them an open environment to communicate”

Today’s learners prefer the learning environment that pushes their learning capacity with altering strategies and teaching practices. To develop the same, I try to establish a supportive learning culture and try my best to address Learners’ Needs. Solving a student's problem, positive interaction between all the students and fellow members help me to maintain a healthy relation with all.


How do you introduce a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

“By organizing various experiments and professional visits”

When you correlate the technical terms to your life, it’s easy for students to understand the concept. While teaching my focus is on practical approach. Instead of mugging up the theory question, emphasis is given to develop the technical skills. Industrial Visits and guidance from Industry experts will be helpful to develop practical approaches.

Which practices are offered to the students to help them gain necessary skills?

“We conduct industrial sessions, talks and trainings with the help of our professional partners”

Along with the regular times table, students are allowed to use the college laboratories. Department also organizes different expert lectures as well as training workshops to gain the required skills. Institute provides soft skill, employability enhancement training with the help of different training partners like Nandi Foundation-Mahindra Pride, Zensar ESD Training, Capgemini-Fuel training program etc.


How does the curriculum align with the best practices of the industry?

“It is framed and updated regularly through suggestions of industry giants and faculties”

Our college follows the curriculum prescribed by the S.P.P.U, Pune. Most of the faculties are the members of the committees developing the curriculum. At our institute the curriculum gap is identified by the faculty members after discussion with all stakeholders including industry experts. This gap is communicated to the higher bodies responsible for framing the curriculum.


How do the institute update faculties to deliver education in accordance with the industry standards?

“We conducts trainings programs, seminars and visits to upskill themselves”

Industrial visits, interactive sessions with industry experts are the regular activities of the institute. Besides this, faculty members are also motivated to attend faculty development program, participate in national international conferences. Institutes encourage the faculty to appear for the courses developed by IIT, Foreign Universities.


How does your institute prepare students for placements?

“We offer best personality development classes and career counseling sessions”

The Placement Cell interacts with esteemed organizations to visit the college campus regularly to provide placement opportunities to the students. The Placement Cell also organizes career guidance programs for all the students starting from first year to enhance their soft skill and technical proficiency.

Alumni placed in the companies enable the placement cell to facilitate the students with the best possible opportunities. Students are given soft skills and technical training. The training begins in the first year of degree course and continues till the final year. 


What is the placement statistics of your college?

“Our students get placed in reputed firms every year in decent numbers”

More than 200 students will be placed in Different Multinational companies in 2020-21. In 2022 till now more than 100 students were selected. We achieve a 50-60% placement ratio every year. Some of our students also opt for higher education. Most of our alumni have started their own start-ups.


How do you prepare your students to cope up with the competitive world?

“By providing them ethical and technical trainings”

Our institute provides soft skill and technical training to all the students. Along with this we try to imbibe the moral and ethical values that will help them become more proficient and stronger to face the competition.


With what vision you joined this college and how are you trying to achieve that?

“To make our students future ready by giving finest knowledge at every level”

My first goal was to give good technical knowledge to my students when I joined this institute as assistant professor. After some time, I got different responsibilities including College magazine coordinator, workshop Superintendent and Placement Officer. These responsibilities broaden my vision to develop my students in such a way that they should be recognized as Matoshri students with a high grade skill set.


What are your College’s greatest strengths?

“Our faculties are our main pillars of strength”

Our college is located 12 km away from the city but it is known for its best academics and discipline. We have been working hard to improve our placement for four years and the results are encouraging.

“Be continuous and make best use of every opportunity”

Getting a prosperous Career or dream job is not a one-day activity. There is no magic stick that will give you a good career. It needs regular study, practice and smart work.
