Dr. Y. Madhavee Latha has been working as the Principal of Malla Reddy Engineering College for Women, Secunderabad, Telangana. She is the recipient of India's 20 Pragmatic Women Leaders in Education Industry Award by The Academic Insights, Women Entrepreneur Award by Women Entrepreneur India Magazine-2022, Bhishma Acharya Award by Bharat Education Excellence Awards, Women in Education Award from Dewang Mehta National Education Awards, Most Innovative Principal - Engineering Colleges in Telangana State Award from International Education Awards, Time CyberMedia Pvt.Ltd. & Best Principal Award for Excellence in Education from Global Leader Foundation. As a diligent scholar, she has excelled in studies from her childhood. She has completed her Bachelor's Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Masters in Digital Systems and Computer Electronics and PhD in Signal processing from the auspices JNTUH. She has more than 22 years of experience in the Academic, Research and Administrative sectors and during these years, she has served in an array of designations like Professor, Head of Department and Principal. She has attained 18 Patent Rights for her Technological Innovations and has published 150 research papers on an assortment of topics in reputed National and International Conferences and Journals like Springer, IEEE Transactions, Scopus Indexed and many more. She has published a book entitled Signal processing Simulation Using MATLAB and is also the Editor-in-Chief for International Journal of Research in Signal Processing, Computing and Communication-System Design with ISSN. Beside this, she is the Member of IEEE and CSI and Life Member of IETE and ISTE. She has delivered more than 60 keynote addresses and expert lectures in conferences and workshops sharing her expertise on various areas with the Academic fraternity. In addition to this, she has established IEEE, ISTE, IETE, CSI & HMA Student Professional Chapters and has convened more than 440 conferences and workshops for the benefit of students and staff on a variety of themes. She is the member of Editorial Boards and Advisory Committees for Conferences and Journals and has reviewed several journals in her field. Under her guidance 6 members have been awarded PhD and she is presently guiding 8 Research Scholars under JNTUH in the concerned field. How did you train your faculty members to deliver courses to students in the best possible way?

We regularly encourage our faculty members to attend Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) in relevant fields, workshops and seminars in order to improve their teaching methodologies and make it application oriented. And they also do various kinds of certification courses from learning platforms like NPTEL and faculty motivation sessions are organized by us in collaboration with industry experts to upgrade their skills. In addition to this, our college organizes international conferences in association with Scopus Indexed Publications on a regular basis for promoting research based learning for teachers and also to help them publish research papers. Worth to be mentioned that we have signed MOUs with reputed industries with an objective to train the faculty members in the latest technologies and tools which are in demand in the industrial world so that they can train our students in the best possible way. Lastly, teachers prepare Course Files, Digital Notes, Video Lectures and Lab Manuals for an effective teaching-learning process.

Our Institution has an actively functioning Industry Institute Partnership Cell with a strong vision to empower our students to be industry ready and globally competent Engineers’. IIPC also helps in arranging industry interaction sessions to educate students about the best practices of industries, update their knowledge base in emerging sectors and technologies and to give them a more practical learning experience. Also we have signed MOUs with leading Industries to ensure good internship opportunities for students, to arrange industrial training for students and faculty, to organize industry interaction sessions for employability enhancement of students and lastly to conduct industry visits, Technology Exchange Programmes and to undertake Consultancy Projects.

What challenges have you faced while inculcating new courses in your curriculum?

"Establishing the infrastructure and labs for courses was initially a challenge for us"

The programmes which we are currently offering to our students are very helpful from an excellent career scope point of view, but the major challenges which we faced initially while implementing them were in establishing new state of the art laboratories and ensuring availability of proficient faculty members who can teach those courses to our students in the best possible way. 

On what types of projects your students are currently working on under their respective courses?

"Our students are working on amazing research based projects"

Our institute has assigned different kinds of mini-major innovative and startup based projects to our students. Major projects give students the opportunity to formulate their own inquiries about a subject, gather, and assess information, come to conclusions and communicate findings via presentations and explanations. And our students use different approaches like research papers, models, oral presentations, simulations or physical objects to present their project work. While mini projects revolve around academic subjects being covered in class.

What career options would be available for students after pursuing courses from your college?

Career opportunities will be limitless for them and after successful completion of their respective courses, our students can work as a Software Developer, Business Intelligence Analyst, Web Developer, Software Quality Assurance Tester, Information Security Analyst, Technical Writer or as a Computer Technical Support Specialist. Apart from this, they can also join public sector organizations like BHEL, LIC, Hindustan Copper Limited, and NALCO, which are partially owned by the State or Center or both Government.
