Poddar Group of Institutions

Mr. PC Gupta is the CEO at Poddar Group of Institutions. He brings a vast experience with him of education and portrays a magnificent vision to help students elevate their learning processes. His aim of raising the institution on the basis of skill-based education is what keeps him motivated. Read here what he has to say in his interview.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“The commencement of the institution began by adapting the ideology of training”

Right from the beginning, the philosophy of the group was training which I have always felt in this group and earlier group as an essential factor. Therefore in 2005 when we started our academic and professional courses affiliated to University of Rajasthan, our objective was “Education with a purpose”, which reveals that either a trainer or trainee both needs regular training for growth of the organization.

With this objective in mind, we have been organizing faculty development programs from time to time and providing various types of development programs for students. E.g., Coaching for Competitions, English improvement classes, Industrial visits, entertainment programs and participation in other colleges programs.

What are some of the biggest challenges that you have faced while working for the field of education? How did you overcome them?

“For growth, challenges will always be there, and one has to face them”

Right in the beginning, we had only nine students in only one course B.Sc. PGI’s Poddar International College was at that time affiliated with the University of Rajasthan. Next year we added more courses from university and added experienced faculties and promoted the courses through media with our assets.

Here, only the reasonable efforts of teaching, training started, which ultimately leads to good results in final exams and benefits each member to progress. We have always kept our students protected from outside influence and kept them busy in studies and other activities. We decided to get on College for NAAC accreditation which we could clear with our joint efforts. To run a college every day is a challenge which we always face and achieve success in that.

According to you, how is PGI different from other universities?

“We offer various skill-based courses to help students elevate their learning”

PGI is not a university but a group of colleges viz Poddar international college, Poddar management and technical centre, Poddar management and training institute, Poddar international college of pharmacy, Poddar international school, providing education and training in academic courses like BA, B.Sc., B.Com, BBA, MCA, M.Com, MBA, B.Ed. etc. affiliated with the University of Rajasthan, RTU, Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Rajasthan ILD Skill University, Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan etc.

However, our college in the group is different from other colleges in the way that we provide a prosperous education to place students in a proper job which others may not. Our alumni association shows that our students are either owning their organization or becoming a successful employee.

How much importance is given to practical learning at PGI along with theoretical knowledge?

“Theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge both go hand in hand”

Without practical knowledge, one cannot be successful; that is why I called PGI as one of the best training institutes for teachers as well as students. We organize faculty development programs for faculties, involve them in various activities, discuss their achievements, give proper motivation and promotions.

For students, we organize training for communication skills, interview skills, understanding their ambitions and proper counselling, organizing industrial visits etc.

We have specific facilities, for example, student Dean and mentor, training and placement officers for placement etc. We maintain proper communication with students and their parents too.

What is your valuable advice to the students who are about to begin their professional careers?

“There are multiple factors that students should make their assessments about their future”

  • Analyze and understand yourself via SWOT analysis.
  • As per your strength, do hard work
  • Try to overcome weaknesses. Be honest and dedicated to your employees and employer.
  • Try to achieve your set objectives.

How does the curriculum of PGI ensure the best practice of industry?

“The prime objective of the college is Education with a purpose”

The students are trained for government jobs too. That group of students are prepared accordingly in competition classes- RSCIT Classes, NSS Service Participation, Communication Interview Classes, Lectures by IAS/IPS/ Religious Leaders etc. These are the best practices adopted to make the students different from the group of industry.
