Dr. Manoj Kumar is Assistant Professor at Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Assistant Professor. He completed his Graduation (B. Sc.) from Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate College, Post Graduation (M. Sc. in Mathematics), M. Phil. and Ph. D. Degrees from Institute of Advanced Studies, Ch. Charan Singh University, Campus, Meerut. He completed a six-month Certificate course of Proficiency in the Russian Language from the same University. He also qualified for the CSIR-UGC NET certificate exam (in Mathematics) conducted by CSIR, HRDG, New Delhi. Presently, He has been working as an Assistant Professor (Stage-3) in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Gurukul Kangri (Deemed to be University), Haridwar, Uttarakhand, since 03 April 2003. Three students have been awarded Ph. D. Degree under his supervision in the field of Elliptic Curve Cryptography/ Quantum Cryptography. Recently one student submitted her thesis for the award of Ph. D. Degree and three research scholars are presently working under her guidance.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Providing students with the best guidance to help them in reaching their highest potential”

We wish to help students reach their full potential as learners and inspire them to keep working toward their goal of being self-sufficient, self-motivated persons.

In general, my tasks and roles are as follows:

  • Students will be immersed in a completely technical setting.
  • Assisting pupils with any problems they may be having.
  • Instilling confidence in the students is a goal.
  • I guide the pupils in addition to providing support.
  • Always strive to be an excellent teacher.
  • Identifying the appropriate form of instruction for a kid based on their thinking.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Providing Students and Faculty with academic and psychological support”

I make every effort to foster mutual trust and understanding by offering academic and psychological support to my students and colleagues wherever available. I constantly respect colleagues' boundaries, restrictions, and seniority, and I encourage open dialogue among them. In addition, I make every effort to recognize and respect each fellow faculty member's contribution to their department and school. We hold virtual morning meetings where students and staff can exchange information about themselves or any issues they are having.

What do you see as the department’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

“Infrastructure of the department is well-equipped as well as well crafted”

The department has a good infrastructure and nearly all of the amenities that students demand. The classrooms are pleasant and large. The course content is really useful and well-crafted. The department's faculty members are highly educated and competent, as well as pleasant and experienced educators.

How do you strategize and update the curriculum? 

“Providing Students with well-defined industry-oriented sessions”

Our methods to a well-defined practical development of students include providing information on the application of the topic and its significance to the industry, as well as having students solve issues connected to the subject. We conduct classroom discussions to build up the answers step by step and to teach students how to handle and operate lab instruments so that they may execute the experiment on their own and gain laboratory skills. We assist them in designing the experiment to meet the goal, critically thinking about real-world challenges and how topic knowledge may give answers.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead? 

“Stress is unavoidable but it should never become a way of life”

To achieve the bright job you desire, you must work harder and be prepared to make some sacrifices. Always be prepared to try out different positions, study whatever you can, and trust in your abilities. Always be honest and devoted to your efforts and goals; be innovative and think beyond the box. Always remember that while stress is unavoidable, it should never become a way of life.
