AMET University

What do you see as AMET University’s greatest strengths?

“Quality facilities and extensive faculty expertise”

One of a kind infrastructure can speak volumes about the type of attention to detail AMET likes to dwell into. The students have access to better resources like an in-house simulator, in-house ship, “Jewel of AMET.” We possess strong and experienced professors with about 25 years of experience from the marine industry and a compulsory internship program for students to gain relevant industry exposure and skill sets. AMET designs its curriculum by 60% focus on the practical aspects and rest on the theoretical aspect.

What would you like the people to know about your University that they may not?

“Global recognition and unsurpassed services”

AMET is the only privately operated maritime university in India and has been consistently holding a position in Top 7 Maritime Institutions of the World by IAMU - International Association of Maritime Universities. IAMU has 67 member universities from across 32 countries. Also, we encompass a huge network in the industry where the prime focus has been on industrial affiliations, skill development and placements. Moreover, we possess a very strong alumni base from almost every state of the country.

What are the plans that you’re designing for AMET’s international affairs?

“Collaborations and MOUs with international universities”

AMET is well-equipped to include courses on higher national diploma in Marine engineering and nautical science, in collaboration with City of Glasgow College, UK and South Tyneside College, UK. These internationally acclaimed programs help students to get international exposure as they get to visit the campus to learn, study and observe the challenges. AMET has signed an MoU with University of Strathclyde, where the students of B.E. (Naval Architecture) can continue their former years of study in University of Strathclyde, UK and get the degree for the same from University as well.

What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Inculcating multi-disciplinary courses and programs”

AMET University plans to establish itself as a recognised university for offering courses in all the major disciplines, and not only Maritime courses. AMET as a university offers more than marine and nautical science courses like B.Com in computer applications and logistics, Mining engineering, Petroleum Engineering and BFSI. In the next few years, our focus will be on changing flagship programs. We have a vision to launch an IT park with courses focussing on domains like Data Analytics, Data science and Marketing.

How does the curriculum of your University ensure the best practice of industry?

“Diverse practices aligned with industries and varies placement”

The only best practice of industry excellence has been in delivering quality education accessible to the students and to make them industry ready. AMET has a tie-up with Maersk - World’s largest shipping company having 80,000 employees worldwide and owning 786 vessels, where a student is offered a placement with Maersk along with a university admission letter for Marine engineering courses. Also, we offer different workshops and seminars to incorporate valuable skills and knowledge among students.
