What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“An opportunity to train young minds”

Firstly, the curiosity in the eyes of my students. They are always up to learn new things to explore new technology. These budding coders are so enthusiastic, ready to accept all challenges in their path.

Secondly, the advancement in new technology, the field of computer science is taking turns every day.

So, I reckon that my students should be all up to date since they are the future of an IT industry and this belief in me wants to teach them which makes me stay connected to the education sector.

Being HOD of CSE, what goals do you have in your mind for your department for the next four years?

“I want my students to excel in all domains of industry”

I want my students to have their hands on all the latest technologies running in the market. I want them to do their internships with the best possible companies. As in today’s scenario, the economy is at its low end. For the alternative, they should also know startups. They could have fixed revenue of their own and could also employ others. I also want them to master Google cloud as that is again gaining a lot of popularity nowadays. They should know what interests them the most. I want to widen their options as much as possible. My department is already halfway in the facilities mentioned above and soon would fulfill all of these.

How do you strategize the key programs and plan the administration of your department?

“We are bringing many learning opportunities via industry interface”

I am on my way to making as many industrial tie-ups as possible. However, we are already linked with huge companies like Amazon, Google, IBM, Bosch. I would want all of my students to get placed in Tier 1 companies or have a huge company of their own. As technology advances, previous benchmarks that defined artificial intelligence become outdated. Since AI/ML is gaining popularity day by day, I am providing the best possible trainers in this field to keep my students up to date with all the latest technologies and work on them. They would be doing internships from renowned industries so that they could learn all new things.

What are the greatest strengths of your department?

“We provide guidance to our students for various verticals”

The CEIT Department of SGVU mainly focuses on practicals rather than theory because computer science is not about mugging stuff up. Student’s code. They work on huge projects under the guidance of faculty members. We are offering our students free certification courses for the Google cloud program. Every student has an industrial mentor with whom he/she could communicate for any industrial level query. These industrial mentors are people working on a good designation in huge industries to guide our students well. We give our students proper placement and Campus Recruitment pieces of training, including group discussions, aptitude, mock interviews, resume building, and technical rounds.

What kind of projects / internships are provided by the department of CSE at SGVU for students?

“There are multiple practical aspects that we introduce via projects”

The students of CSE at SGVU work on major industry level projects every semester using different technologies. They work on major Web Applications, Android Applications, Web Sites under the guidance of faculty members. They work on recent frameworks like spring framework in java and Django and flask framework in python. The students of CSE at SGVU are given huge internship opportunities, and a summer internship every year and a six-month internship at the end semester are compulsory. This step is taken to know how the IT industry functions and are well acquainted with the technologies used and do not find it difficult to adapt there when they are placed.

What is the future scope of this course from your institution?

“There is a huge scope of placements in CSE”

Computer Science has taken the top position in placements as compared to the other fields. We guide the students through the process and want to help them access the new technicalities. We have B.Tech CSE with Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning program powered by IBM, Full Stack Development program powered by upGrad, M.Tech Cloud computing, and Security powered by Amazon. So this will give them the knowledge and the right direction to drive them to their ambition and have their dream job.

Tell us about your best experiences in the field of higher education?

“It is essential to gain knowledge from various domains”

Some of my best experiences in higher education are the meetings and conferences I attend, which enlightens me so much and helps me acquire new knowledge and retrain myself. Every time I learn something or the other, I understand the world I live in much better and gives me absolute bliss to share that knowledge with my students. I also relish the research done by the students and their team, which makes me so proud.

What approach do you have for the placement of the students in your department?

“We ensure to bring in skill sessions to help students acquire skills”

We have Industrial Mentors who are at good designations in different IT companies, assigned to each student, who helps them get rid of their perplexity. They try to make them meet with the periodic updations happening there. We also have an Employability skills session every alternative day to polish their skills. The main focus is on the theoretical and practical knowledge and the live projects they work on. Most of this part depends on the students' hard work, creativity, and interest.

What suggestions would you like to give to the current students who are pursuing computer science courses?

“During this era of digitalization, students will have various opportunities”

They have to realize the importance of what, why, and how and should have the confidence to accomplish those. They need to learn how the industry works, the key factors and teach practical and theoretical knowledge. They should know the gap between the education and the industries and find the “why” of every logic rather than just cramming up stuff, sometimes they tend to ignore these, and that’s where they lack. They should build some industry-level projects that would help them in both placements and growing themselves in coding, which is also creative and can continue to follow their yearnings.
