How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Open communication and transparent policies”

Due to my residence on campus, I am always available to work throughout the week. A special "Mentorship Program" is run by the university for all students. Any academic or personal issues that students are facing can be discussed and resolved through regular meetings.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Field visits, expert interactions and hands-on workshops”

To meet the contemporary requirements of society and industry, courses are always reviewed by academics and industry experts. The students are exposed to field visits as well as webinars and seminars by experts in this area.

In this highly competitive world, how do you help your students cope?

"Thrive by working above the majority and differently"

In a world with high competition, one must think differently and collaborate with others on a global level in order to shine and survive. We help students develop their strengths so that they can learn. Besides technical skills, students are exposed to discussions and practical experiences that assist them in learning. It also helps them feel comfortable communicating with the experts in their field.

Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students?

“The pedagogy we use is evidence-based”

Civil engineering involves looking at what is happening in nature from your eyes and experiencing it in daily life. We follow an evidence-based pedagogy that accelerates the progress of our students and helps them to develop in all possible ways. We groom the students in all possible ways by exposing them to various curricular and extracurricular activities.

Do you face any challenges in raising the quality of education in your department?

“Motivating students to learn continuously is a challenge”

A challenging task is maintaining the students' motivation and interest throughout the course. Oftentimes, those who are ignorant or foolish try to benefit in the short term and become habitual once they see the results. It's important to remember that success doesn't come easily. With the use of Active learning components, we deliver outcome-based education. This has proven to be a perfect way to reduce these challenges and build a solid foundation for students.

What are the interventions you bring in apart from the curriculum to train the students?

“Enabling collaborative learning, peer tutoring, and effective feedback”

Each student wants to perform well and learn the most, but the methods they use may differ. Because of their different ways of thinking, they learn differently. As a result, we emphasize self-regulation strategies for metacognition, collaborative learning, peer tutoring, as well as effective feedback. We can help them become better learners by providing them with the time, support, and tools they need.

What valuable advice would you like to give the students for their future?

“Always remember that hard work pays off”

In our interaction with youth today, one concern that we experience is, they want results in a short amount of time. After not getting the desired results, they get restless, lose patience, or become fed up. They should always keep in mind that "there is no shortcut to success". Keep working on your fundamentals and create a solid foundation by always aiming to exceed your limits.
