What will you say are the best practices in the course you’re offering?

“Industry-orientation and practical learning”

Our department is offering B.Tech. in Civil Engineering and M.Tech. in Civil Engineering with specialization in Environmental Engineering and Structural Engineering. We follow an Industry-synced curriculum to make these courses best for the students. Experienced and qualified faculties, majority from NIT’s, Choice Based credit system in curriculum and placements in reputed companies like J K Cement, Pinnacle CAD etc. are our key USPs. Also, we offer high end software laboratories for enhancing software skills of our students. Following student centric outcome-based education (OBE) model for achieving better course and program learning outcomes is what we follow from initial stages. Industry exposure and visits of students, and one to one interaction to students for better achievement of learning outcomes is done on a regular basis. In addition, equipping students with skills which will provide them maximum employability opportunities.

What are some valuable insights of the program at your department?

“Industry based curriculum and exposure”

In-house engineering projects, industrial projects, summer internships, industrial tours etc. are organized for students to get a practical exposure. Well-equipped laboratories which provide practical instruction to undergraduate students and facilities for post-graduate training, research work and consultancy work are an integral part of our curriculum. High-end software laboratories with software like Bentley’s STAAD Pro and placements in reputed companies helps students become employable and better. Guest lectures and seminars from industrial and academia resource persons is a regular practice.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

“Good academic practices and skill development approaches”

Department follows students centric learning model i.e. OBE where course outcomes are mapped with graduate attributes which a student should achieve at the end of the program. Also, the department has a software laboratory where software skills of the students are enhanced so that they can attract more employability and opportunities. How did you train your faculty to deliver this program to the students?

“Feedback and improvising techniques”

We have a regular assessment task where we are asked to collect regular feedback from students to improve the lecture delivery. Department faculties attend various self-improvement, domain knowledge development programs and research conferences/seminars which ultimately helps in imparting high quality knowledge in the program. Organizing seminars of industry persons and academia to enhance domain skills of the faculty is a part of the curriculum itself.

How do you tend to build an industry-connect with this program?

“Expert integration and training provisions”

The curriculum is designed in a way which ensures that students are equipped with the essential and additional skill set, keeping industry requirements in mind, so that they can be made employable at the end of the program. By arranging industry visits and tours, conducting guest lectures of industry resource persons, and sending students for industrial training/internship we connect them to the industrial world. Students are also offered value-added courses which help them in improving their skills in a particular domain and boost their self-confidence.
