Dr. Amit Jhalani is an academician and a researcher, working as an Assistant Professor at Dr. K.N. Modi University, Rajasthan. He holds more than 10 years of experience in teaching Mechanical Engineering. He has published more than 15 research papers in peer-reviewed SCI/Scopus indexed international journals and has presented 10+ papers in different National and International Conferences. He objectifies the motive to guide his students in every problem they face.


What are your roles and responsibilities towards maintaining a healthy relationship with fellow faculty and with students?

“Mutual Respect and understanding”

Students come to university/college to gain knowledge and learn something new beyond books. If a teacher understands this and caters to the demand of students, there will automatically be a wonderful relationship between them. I follow this principle and involve them in the teaching-learning process to create an everlasting impact. More or less, in the same way, I deal with my co-workers because any relationship could be fostered if we are creating something valuable in their life.


How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?

“Participation of experts in in curriculum development of the university”

There is a regular check over the curriculum. We take feedback and suggestions from industry experts, academia, and our alumni for the current requirement of the industry and research and accordingly we propose for the up-gradation in the board of studies of our university for approval. The updating occurs every year.


What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which will help them to gain the necessary skills?

“Overall development with great facilities to learn”

The availability of well-equipped laboratories, furnishing of students with the best available human resources, regular training on interpersonal skills and aptitude. Assistance with various students for different competitive examinations. The different departments deal with different types of entrances for achieving a great number of employability for the University.

What are the challenges you face to uplift the quality of education in your department?

“Interdisciplinary work”

To synergize with the National and International standards of quality education by encouraging students to focus on interdisciplinary activities and projects. The providence of assignments which will give them more exposure to real-life engineering and enable them to work with versatility.


What goals do you have for your department for the next 5 years?

“To start student exchange program internationally”

We have set some clear goals for our department for the next five years–

  • To get accredited by NAAC 
  • To collaborate with some reputed institutes abroad and start a student exchange program
  • To collaborate with some industries for long term industrial training programs
  • To establish an incubation center to support startups by our students initially and later for others also
  • To start B.Tech+ M.Tech. 5 year integrated course

What is the future scope of engineering from your institution?

“Placements are settled and well recorded”

We have a very good track record of placements in our engineering school. Many of our students have got selected in reputed institutes for further education. The collaboration of the University with various institutes for recruitments increases the number of placements with reputed firms. Our students are working in multinationals across the globe which is the saga of a successful career after doing engineering from our institution. 


What would you like people to know about your department/university they may not know?

“The management is well maintained and objectified for various improvements”

People should visit personally to see our grand infrastructure, excellent laboratory facilities, the team of highly qualified faculty members, and an extraordinary personalized counseling system for every student which differentiates us from the crowd. 


Tell us about your experience in the field of Engineering and what makes it the best industry to work in?

“Engineers never run out of demand”

My personal experience says that there is always a vast scope to think, create, and innovate in the profession of engineering. And that is the reason that the highest paid jobs are offered to the engineers only. Technology is upgrading itself at a very fast pace which is just because of the engineers working behind it. It keeps the engineering profession always in demand. An engineer always stands out from the mass. As a career, it offers benefits not only to an individual but to society as well.


How do you tend to establish a healthy relation and environment at your University?

“Management of relations between students and faculties”

We believe that good relations make a better environment. So, we emphasize building healthy relationships among students and between the teacher-student communities. There is a systematic approach that we follow to achieve this objective. Mentor-mentee caring system, student development cells, yoga, and meditation clubs are some very effective examples of this system.

What suggestions would you like to give to the current students, who want to pursue their careers in Mechanical Engineering?

“Work on your analytical skills”

The reputation of the institute you are opting for your graduation matters a lot in mechanical engineering. They would furnish your skills more than you would require.
