IIT Mandi has a total area of 538 acres, of which approximately 200 acres are flat land and the IIT Mandi's main campus has been planned as an infrastructure that is sustainable and friendly to the environment the remainder is mountainous. On September 23, 2012, 108 second-year B.Tech students, the Director, a few research scholars, 20 faculty and staff, and their families relocated to the main campus.

IIT Mandi

IIT Mandi has a desirable on-campus environment. Mountains encircle the campus, which is lovely and pollution-free. All necessary amenities are made available to students. IIT Mandi offers reasonable WiFi speeds. The food at the mess is excellent. A few canteen facilities are also available. Robotronics and programming clubs are just two of the organizations at IIT Mandi. Around the academic year, many cultural and technical events are planned.

For BTech, PG, and Ph.D. students, IIT Mandi has established contemporary technological laboratories. IIT Mandi amphitheater auditoriums are constantly occupied with brand-new contests, celebrations, and activities for our students.

IIT Mandi Social Life

In addition to the rigorous academic requirements, IIT Mandi provides students with numerous opportunities for social interaction and bonding with their cohort. IIT Mandi is well-known for its yearly student initiatives and year-round events. Among the notable events are:

  • Exodia: Exodia is IIT Mandi's yearly Techno-cultural festival. It is a three-day celebration that takes place at the beginning of April. It is one of the largest college festivals in Himachal Pradesh and northern India, drawing large crowds from North Indian schools and colleges.
  • Xpecto: The Science and Technology Council (SnTC), Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, hosts Xpecto, an annual inter-college technical festival.
  • Rann-Neeti: IIT Mandi hosted RANN-NEETI, the largest sports festival in the Himalayas, to display their talent in a variety of sports. Rann-Neeti has assisted in their development in addition to being a student festival where young people from various colleges in The North gather in the sports arena.

IIT Mandi Library

The Central Library at IIT Mandi currently houses over 41,868 books and provides access to over 50000 e-journals. The Library also has an extensive collection of audiovisual materials, such as CDs and DVDs. The KOHA LMS is used to automate library operations.

IIT Mandi Other Facilities

  • On the IIT Mandi campus, there are numerous hostels that house both undergraduate and postgraduate students. They also have a guest house available for visitors.
  • There are several girls' hostels where undergraduate and postgraduate students can stay. Faculty and staff quarters are available, housing approximately 90% of the faculty and a few staff members. Visitors can also stay in studio apartments or guest houses. The campus is entirely residential for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • With doctors, nurses, and all the necessary medication on both campuses, IIT Mandi has an operational medical unit that is open 24 hours a day. Additionally, they have an ambulance on call for emergencies.
  • Students at IIT Mandi have access to a gym that is well-furnished with a variety of exercise equipment. Yoga and aerobics are available for students to use in the gym.
  • The university has a high-performance computing facility with 39 Intel Xeon-based nodes, which together have 404 processor cores, 1.3 TB of memory, and 63 TB of storage. Four high-tech interactive virtual classrooms are available at IIT Mandi.
  • The institute has a bakery shop and two canteens that serve a variety of high-quality Indian dishes. On both campuses, dining halls are available.
  • The college, which is renowned for its research facilities, has built numerous labs on its campus for disciplines like electrical and electronic design, mechanical engineering, thermofluids, physics, Biox, nanotechnology, photoresist, chemistry, and computer sciences.
  • The State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank are two banks with ATMs on the main campus.
