What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Academic learning and administration to help them learn more”

I take responsibility in orienting my students towards subject knowledge of HRM via case based pedagogy, simulations and role play. The second responsibility which I hold is administrative one, in preparing and planning activities for student welfare, and approach related dignitaries for approval and implementation of the same. Also, I encourage students to practice and publish research work so that we can contribute to the knowledge creation process.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Connecting with members and resolving issues mutually”

It’s a two way process and is about mutual respect. I try to maintain a transparent and trustworthy relation with my students and colleagues. I reach them out directly in case of troubles and try to resolve it quickly through profound means. I converse with them on professional and personal issues so as to boost the strength of relationship. I mingle with students on various events such as sports, seminars, etc. to enhance relations.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Active participation in practical learning activities”

I actively engage speakers and experts from industry in my classes who further propagate the knowledge. Further, I make my students participate in deliver talks, attend conferences, chair sessions and meet with contemporary scholars to upgrade their practical skills. Through this students experience various situations and train themselves to be responsive instead of reactive in a business scenario. When you participate in forums, webinars you discuss, share ideas and views on relevant topics for a comprehensive understanding, you build a sense of professionalism in your personality.

How do you enhance the skills to expose students to the real world challenges?

“Interactive learning and boosting participation to elevate confidence”

At IIM, Rohtak there are subject oriented clubs like marketing club, finance club, etc. to sharpen students skills in the relevant fields. There are ways of learning: Faculty to students and Peer to peer learning. Peer to peer learning is done by students themselves. Although the clubs and committees are chaired by respective faculty members, the activity planning and execution is largely done by the students. On the other hand, there are entertainment and cultural clubs also for the all round development of the students. All these activities help students gain required knowledge and confidence to take up future challenges and solve them reasonably.

What are the challenges you face to uplift the quality of education in your Institute?

“A systematic upbringing of education with student’s curiosity”

Quality is a subjective thing and we need a benchmark for ourselves. Generating continuous approaches for quality education in terms of infrastructure and academic pedagogy is a real challenge in today’s scenario. Once you regularly deliver quality output and become a bit old then every brand is eager to visit and collaborate with you. Also, keeping student’s interest in pedagogy and their trust in the education system is a matter of concern. We employ best learning-teaching methodologies and maintain a fair system of administration to stand on student’s faith and beliefs.

What valuable advice would you like to give to the students?

“Competency, commitment and contribution”

Students must focus on their core competencies that are both market relevant and innovative. You must have good knowledge and a firm understanding of the subject matter. You must be able to apply that knowledge for the benefit of yourself, organization and the society. Students need to be committed with your long term and short term goals in life. Also, you have to contribute regularly. With a clear vision and hard work, your contribution must be reflected in your personality and professionalism.
