Mr. G N Panda has been in the Education Sector for more than 22 years. He joined MATS University in 2003 as Professor, Economics, Department of Business Studies and was later promoted to the role of a Registrar, MATS University due to his immense dedication towards Students' Development programs and meticulous administrative skills. In his interview he highlights the key factors that keeps him glued to the education system, and mentions his roles and responsibilities towards the institution. He explains why it is necessary that the presence of quality teachers with enormous Research backgrounds helps students keep abreast of the imperative ethical elements. He goes on to explain that how a University can ameliorate the hackneyed ways of learning and the same they are implementing by providing global exposure to the students. In the later segment, he expresses his contentment that the future of our nation is secure in the hands of this generation. It is an honour to continuously serve MATS University since its inception. After completing my education from the prestigious Jain Group of Institutions, Bengaluru and earning the reputation of being a Team Leader in almost all types of endeavours, my talent was recognized by the Honourable Chairman of the Jain Group of Institutions Shri R. Chenraj Jain and he offered me an Academic position in his new venture of Higher Education in Chhattisgarh. I must appreciate the clairvoyance of Shri R. Chenraj Jain, who from a host of thousands of students identified me as a person capable of holding this responsibility and in the course of time, I proved that his choice was the most appropriate one.

The key factors that kept me glued to this sector are the opportunities it holds, the novel challenges that keep cropping up, owing to being a Private University and the innovation required to meet these challenges. While many other jobs let you be in your groove, this keeps you always on the edge of the razor, compelling to hone your skills incessantly.

My philosophy is pretty simple. Invest faith in the people and reap the harvest of their dedication. Allow the people to grow and their growth will by default take you to the pinnacle. Empower people to become insurmountable. My absolute faith in these has infallibly assisted me to meet the challenges as I keep my philosophy not limited only to my conception but its active and empathic implementation.

Being the Executive Head of the University, it is my foremost responsibility to ensure that all spares of this juggernaut keep rolling smoothly, and are always braced up to encounter the challenges popping up in different forms with out of the box solutions. 

Planning is an essential part of my responsibilities and my way of tackling this issue is uncomplicated. I first brainstorm myself and then discuss the conclusions with my core group, make necessary apposite alterations and then put them forward to the University Management, which is always supportive.

There was an alarming trend among the students of this region who wished to pursue higher studies to move out of the state if their financial condition granted them the freedom to afford the cost. This drain was quite justified too considering the severe dearth of quality institutions of Higher Education. 

At the very beginning we addressed this issue by taking the bull by its horns. Infallibly observing all norms imposed by the Regulatory Bodies, we still squeeze out the opportunities to keep our curriculum matrices up-to-date and insist to produce Industry ready Graduates and Post Graduates. By being in continuous touch with the stakeholders, that includes employers also; we assess the need of the hour and accommodate it suitably. Presence of quality teachers with enormous Research backgrounds to consolidate their claim of being superior to the rest helps us adhere to what we vouch for. Dissemination of knowledge by the real masters marks a deeper impact than ordinary.

Our steadfast determination to keep our Curricula Industry ready is unwavering under any circumstances. Apart from imparting knowledge, we also instil the conscientious approach in our students towards society and their upcoming job. A University can ameliorate the hackneyed ways of learning by introducing innovative practices 

Not unlike others, I too had this concept in mind that the primary focus of a University is Research. Research is the backbone of a University that allows it to transcend over other institutions of Higher Education. 

But with the passage of time I realized that apart from Research, a University can ameliorate the hackneyed ways of learning by introducing innovative practices in imparting Graduate and Postgraduate learning through the means that are available exclusively to it only. A University is always at liberty to improve and improvise its curricula to tune it more to the needs of the Markets in order to produce Industry Ready youth.

Our stress on augmenting the Academic standard of Slow Learners to bring them at par with the Advance Learners has produced excellent results

Although MATS is immensely popular among the people of the state and earned the reputation for its innovative learning, vibrant Campus atmosphere and eye catching Cultural and Sporting events, yet we want the people to know that MATS is the only University that keeps its syllabi updated and has the most effective mechanism of resolving issues that bother the students and staff. Our stress on augmenting the Academic standard of Slow Learners to bring them at par with the Advance Learners has produced excellent results that are more than satisfactory. Our Innovation and Incubation Cells have got national level recognition and have lent substantial support to the students who wished to be an Employer rather than being just an Employee.

We are in process of pursuing academic associations to provide global exposure to the students

We have signed MOUs for Academic Association with various International Universities of great repute, and are in the process of pursuing the same with many others to provide global exposure to our students with the aim to learn and teach at the same time.

Our abutting objective is to enter into next level agreement with other International Universities and Institutions of Higher Learning for Students and Faculties Exchange in order to provide firsthand experience of International learning and teaching to our students and staff.

I feel contented that the future of our nation is secure in the hands of this generation

I am always charmed by the vibrancy of youth and feel content to see that the future of our nation is secure in the hands of this generation. Still, I think that the tendency prevalent in some young people to succumb to the ever increasing pressure of this challenging time is daunting and urge them to never let the depression percolate in and meet the challenge with fortitude and transform it into an opportunity by applying the Gandhian Principle of Perseverance and Persistence.
