Om Prakash Admission Experience

Did you avail of the benefit of any reservation?

Om Prakash: “General (No reservation)”

Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any)?

Om Prakash: “Due to Covid-19 the complete selection period after shortlisting was done via online mode. So WAT and GD-PI were completely online.”

What was the WAT / GD Topic?

Om Prakash: “WAT: For WAT we need to first register the slot from the given dates. Time allocated was 20 min, the topic was not straightforward; rather it was 2 Pics, one containing an image and the other containing text taken from some newspaper. An aspirant has to use both the image and form a story within the given time.

GD-: It was OTT vs Theatre (something like this)"

What were your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively?

Om Prakash: “WAT: I do not remember the pics now, but my approach was to dedicate the first 2-4 min to connect the text with the pics and then write down some bullet points. Based on the bullet points I made a structure where I tried to add some points from current affairs. I tried to keep the story simple but coherent, following the pre-defined structure in mind.

GD-: Once the topic is shown to us, we get 2 min to jot down our points. Our group consisted of 6-7 people and everyone got 1 min time to speak individually and then the floor was open. I wrote a few points in the 2 min but before I got the opportunity few people had already spoken and they covered a few of my points so I just improvised my answer and even added a few points from their story(not copied but something new or extra). I was in favor of the OTT platform and my story revolved around its use and future growth. Later during the discussion I entered 2-3 times and put some strong points, providing some data and facts which came to mind during the GD. Overall our GD went well and most of us came to a common understanding so we concluded our GD within the given time.”

Describe the general setting of your personal Interview.

Om Prakash: “After GD the PI round was conducted, it was also online. There were '2' members in my Panel. As per my observation, one of the interviewers was faculty and the other was from the industry. My interview went for around 20-25 min. It was not a stressful interview and I was very comfortable during the whole interview. There were a few times when I was not sure and I informed them that I am not sure about the answer but I would guess in case I have some idea otherwise skip the question. So from my side, I would say be honest and do not panic, if you can keep yourself calm then it will surely help you answer many questions.”

Mention at least 5 interview questions that were asked to you and your responses to each of them.

Om Prakash: “Q1. Tell me about yourself: I was prepared for this question very well and I guided them towards my work ex while answering this question so that I can get follow-up questions from them on the same.

Q2. They asked about my work: I am working as an executive SW engineer mainly responsible for developing SW based on the analysis of customer requirements. My additional responsibilities are analyzing the customer requirement and forecasting the risk associated with any requirement. Explained the details and got some follow-up questions from them.

Q3. They asked me about any challenging situation: I explained to them one of the on-site project experiences where I faced lots of challenges and then how I tackled them.

Q4. They asked me some current affairs questions: I do not recall exactly but it was related to the Farm bill and the Myanmar coup, some questions from the budget as well.

Q5. There were some situational-based questions, which I do not recall now.”

Mention 3 reasons why you chose this college over other colleges which you converted.

Om Prakash: “I joined the college because-:

  1. The legacy and well-known pedagogy of the college.
  2. Placement stats and the company visiting the campus
  3. Student-driven campus”

What was the reason for you not converting other colleges? (if any)

Om Prakash: “I messed up my CAT exam and ruined one of the sections, due to which I did not get shortlisted.”
