Prof. Shyamal Gupta is currently working as the Director of SRMS- IBS. He has nearly 15 years of international experience working in reputed organizations including the World Bank, Washington DC, USA. He has done several mergers and acquisitions, anti-fraud consulting, business process improvements, stock exchange listings in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Philippines, India and Europe.

I believe in giving freedom to my employees which gives them a sense of responsibility, accountability and belongingness. Time management is very crucial when you lead a big institution like SRMS-IBS but it becomes easier when you set your priority and become committed to achieve it. I have set priority for days, weeks, months and years in advance and never compromise on it. 


How do you establish a healthy environment in your institution?

“Establishing a relationship with the students being the Director of SRMS”

As a director, I know the importance of my relationship with my students. My positive relationship with students gives them a sense of belongingness and encourages students to come forward & express themselves. Students also develop the confidence to experiment their ideas and are free from the fear of failure. I have a time slot for students’ interaction in which they discuss their start-up ideas, 6 challenges they are facing and how to come up with winning solutions.
