To bring in a practical approach towards subjects and to make it industry oriented various initiatives have been implemented such as recruitment of faculty having industry experience, guest lectures by industry experts to connect the students with the recent happenings in the pharma industry, involvement of industry experts in curriculum design, regular industry visits, summer internship etc.

How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“By fostering an open environment to communicate”

Today’s learners prefer the learning environment that pushes their learning capacity with altering strategies and teaching practices. To develop the same, I try to establish a supportive learning culture and try my best to address learners’ Needs. As a faculty of finance, I provide guidance to my students regarding preparation for various finance profiles for their career growth.

How do you guide your students to survive in such a competitive scenario?

“Through assigning them projects work related to real-world issues”

The BFS program at IMI takes students who have an acumen to study finance and are serious about it. We have students who are application oriented as well as more socially sensitive and during their two years’ journey in this program we try to imbibe a can-do attitude for any task assigned to them. This makes the students updated with the industry trends and makes them industry ready by the time they complete the program.

Any valuable advice would you like to the students for a prosperous career ahead?

“Make best use of every opportunity that comes your way”

In my viewpoint students have to quickly adapt, reskill rather than upskill and face the challenges. Given the current trends, students must learn fast to adapt to the changes imposed on us by COVID, or any future shock events.

What qualities and skills students must possess for a successful career in your field?

“Basic knowledge about trending technologies and curious approach”

Given a lot of innovation happening in the field of finance, developing key skills related to finance in the area of artificial intelligence, fintech, insurance, block chain, private equity etc. Apart from knowledge, a can-do attitude is very important for long-term growth and success in one’s career.

What are some of the unique qualities of your teaching style?

“My interactive nature with students and research based attitude”

In the past 18 years of my teaching experience, the journey with IMI has been the most enriching and joyful experience for me. I like engaging with students in the classroom as well as in one on one interactions with them. I find students at IMI to have a lot of analytical ability in terms of the approach used by them especially during case study discussions. To make them more interested in the subject I follow a case study approach for teaching.
