Girish Chandra Pathak is working as a Principal at Bora Institute of Management and Science, Lucknow. He has an experience of over 22 years in teaching and has been the Principal from the past two years in a PG college. He has done MA in Economics, MA in Hindi, M.Ed and Ph.D. He has been honored by CM Yogi Adityanath for his work on Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath.

Being the Principal of the college, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

My Philosophy of leadership is based on the principles of democracy. In my opinion, an effective leader must know the strength and weaknesses of the group and the merits and demerits of the group members. As the head of the institution, I tried my best to make good communication with everyone, involve everyone as per the attitude and requirement of the situation and provide opportunities for them to express views and suggestions for the betterment of the Institution.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and the students are?

As the principal of the college, it is my responsibility to ensure that all activities, academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular are going smoothly on the campus. A healthy environment, under which the overall development of the students must be maintained.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute?

To establish a healthy relationship and environment in the institution, I always try to ensure that everyone must know their responsibilities and duties and deliver them in the right way. Human values must be respected by all whether they are teaching or non-teaching faculties and the students. An effective mechanism for grievance redressal of everyone to timely removal of complaints when raised is working.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

To face the competition in life at present time and be successful, our faculty members tried to develop the competency in the students that make them successful. For this, we provide maximum exposure to real-life situations, build self-confidence and develop a positive approach, learning by making mistakes.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

We have established a Career Counseling and placement cell to help the students for better careers and employment. We regularly organize sessions by internal and external resource persons to groom the students by developing communication skills, etiquette and making them aware of opportunities for higher education.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

Each and everything in the world can be compensated but this rule is not applicable in terms of time. For success in life, proper effort in the right direction at the right time is required. All three are important, so make your plan and work your plan. Time once passed, cannot be brought back, so always value time.

What do you think should be college’s top priority over the next 10 years?

The institution’s top priority over the coming next 10 years is to be established as one of the top colleges offering professional courses in the field of teacher education and management. It is our objective to achieve the cent percent placement status. When the name of the institution is sufficient to get jobs for our students, we will try to achieve that position.
