Prof. Biswajeet Pattanayak, is a distinguished academician and a well known Management Guru, is the Founder and President of ASBM University.He left the coveted position of the Professor of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore and Lucknow to establish Asian School of Business Management at Bhubaneswar way back in the year 2006. In the last 14 years, ASBM has emerged as one of the top-ranking b-schools of the country with international accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), USA. 

Dr. Pattanayak has held several academic and administrative positions in a career spanning over three decades. He has been awarded Ph. D. and D. Litt. in Organisational Behaviour and D. Sc. in Management Science. He has been conferred with the prestigious International Teaching Excellence Award in June 2016 of Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) at Atlanta, USA.

He has been appointed by the Hon'ble President of India as a member of the Courts (the highest bodies of Governance) of the Central University of Rajasthan and Guru Ghasidas Central University, Chhattisgarh.He has been also been honoured with citation in Reference India, Indo-European Who's Who, Asian-American Who’s Who, Who’s Who in the World (Marquis), Asia-Men and Women of Achievement, and Leading Scientist of the world by International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England.

I feel that the education sector is not an industry in the conventional sense of the term. It is a responsibility to build the future of a nation and mankind as a whole.I am observing that lately higher education is becoming more prescriptive, rather than innovative. Too much of template oriented approach in terms of curriculum and syllabi kills innovation.

Of course, in spite of multiple regulatory regimes, Indian education has evolved as value-based, qualitative, and to a large extent futuristic. We, at ASBM, always give importance to the holistic development of the students through innovation and experimentation. I have a firm conviction that every individual has talent and potential, which can be nurtured for the best use of the organization. I do best as a team player and always carry my team along. Let me tell you, the students of this generation are highly intelligent and are capable of delivering their best. The only deficit in most cases is the right kind of attitude towards self, job, family, and the community at large.

It has been observed that youth delve into the state of confusion leading to disappointment over trivial issues. The major reason is that most of them have been brought up in a cocoon of an overprotective environment. Thus, with a slight failure, they become disturbed. 

Thus, the culture in the academic institution should be more of mutual trust, transparency, team learning, innovation and experimentation, and learning with fun; to be precise, a culture of great learning with happiness. 

Building a healthy relationship with the students

Time has evolved, and the students have to be considered as partners in the academic process. We, as teachers, need to accept reality and practice learning with mutual respect and care.
