Dr. A Srikanth Gowd is the Principal at Brindavan Institute of Technology and Science - (BITS) Kurnool. He has been leading BITS in its endeavor to excel in imparting value-based education with the highest quality and integrity. After graduating in Mechanical Engineering, he completed Post Graduation and obtained a Ph.D. He has vast and enduring experience as a professor, principal, member of various academic and administrative bodies. He has several awards to his credit as a mark of his contribution to the field of technical education. Dr. Abdul Kalam’s Life Time Achievement award, being one of them. He has also been awarded a certificate of merit for a Research paper published in the Journal of Institute of Engineers.

What keeps you connected to the education platform?

“Ability to reinforce the importance of leadership, education, safety, innovation and excellence in all students”

My father and mother were both teachers and motivated me to become what I am today. Initially, the education industry was not that big. I completed my PG in the night college and in the daytime, I used to work in the industry. While getting my PG education I was inclined towards the educational sector and I got interested in the teaching sector as well.

What is the Strength of your college?

“An affiliated institute in Andhra Pradesh with great faculty, infrastructure & placement facilities”

  • Our college provides B.Tech diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical, Computer science Electrical and electronics domain. We also offer M.Tech in structural engineering. 
  • Very few Institutions in Andhra Pradesh have affiliation and we are one of them. We are affiliated with JNTUA. 
  • We have a very experienced teaching and admin staff who come from prestigious institutes, having served as Vice-Principal, Principals, and Operations in-charges. 
  • Even though we are situated in a rural area we are managing to have decent placements for the students.

How do you maintain a healthy relationship inside the campus?

“Building strategies that should be student-centric and must benefit them immensely”

A positive climate is crucial for any organization’s success. The atmosphere should be caring and trustworthy with an environment that is conducive to learning. To facilitate this culture, the college provides support to its departments, faculty, and staff as they deliver world-class education and research. We promote an environment where continuous improvement is a top priority. All the habits start from the college level only if you are regular to the classes you will be regular and punctual to your job.

What are the steps taken by the college for economically poor background students?

“Enabling scholarships, fee reimbursements and motivating rural talent to excel in academics”

We get most of the admission from the nearby villages and some from the nearby districts. Our college in association with the Andhra Pradesh government is taking a lot of steps to help the economically poor background students. The government has initiated multiple schemes such as fee reimbursement, scholarships, etc. They don't have to pay any fee to the college. There are also schemes available for students staying in the hostel. 

What is the top priority of the university in the next 5 years?

“Establishing the best industrial network connections, to advance the knowledge base of the engineering professions”

We are aiming to give good quality technical education to every student. We plan on organizing workshops, conferences, and short-term courses to give the specialization on all the new technologies that are introduced into the market. Will be implementing all the new technologies in the forthcoming years.

What message do you want to give the current youth and the Aspiring students?

“To have a fixed plan and a goal in order to achieve greater heights in your life”

Today's current youth should not forget the fundamentals. Today’s youth don't know what they want to become, they don't have clarity on their goal. Every student should plan and think about what they want to achieve in life and that I should pursue that stream.
