What is your philosophy of leadership?

“Constant approaches towards successful accomplishment of goals”

Leadership is concerned with the acts or skills required for leading a group of people, to achieve the long term goals and objectives of an organization. A good leader should be able to assess the opportunities and challenges in advance, and should be able to organize and optimize his resources accordingly to best achieve the set targets. As a leader, I believe in delegating the authorities and responsibilities. Developing and implementing an ‘Effective Monitoring System’ is of course important. A good leader can instill the requisite qualities such as team spirit, integrity and dependability amongst his/her fellow colleagues. These are highly desirable traits of human resources for an organization to succeed.

How could your institute be welcoming to students of diverse backgrounds?

“Strategized protocols and different scholarship schemes”

We strictly follow the admission guidelines of the State Govt. and provide a conducive teaching-learning environment in the campus that favours all. Further, a transparent and merit based system for admission, management scholarship and students’ performance evaluation is accompanied that ultimately attract the meritorious students of different races or economic backgrounds.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities towards the institute are?

“Emerge as a quality institute producing good professionals”

Not only me, but we all, play a major role for BGI to be known as an Institute that produces competent professionals and responsible human beings who understand their responsibilities towards the society. Further, we want it to be branded as an Institute that offers affordable quality education and training. As Director, my prime responsibility is to ensure that the quality teaching-learning process takes place on the campus. Moreover, students and teachers should remain aware of the latest updates in their respective fields. As an institute, we should help achieve the professional goals of our students.

What do you think should be the institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Proactive institution with best professional development of students”

Institute’s top priority should always be to match and help fulfil the professional human resource requirements of the industry, providing students who are competent, have high morale and professional ethics. Also, we work to review our targets and strategies from time to time, to best cater to the industrial requirements of the region and society at large. At BGI, our top priority is to become the first choice in the region amongst the aspirants of professional education and training.

What would you like people to know about your institute they may not know?

“Wider range of services and global collaborations”

At present other than this campus, Bhagwant group is having two Universities - Bhagwant University, Ajmer and Bhagwant Global University, Kotdwar. One University at Narendranagar, Dehradun is under development. Shakuntla Degree College and Bhagwant Public School are serving the society at Chandpur, Muzaffarnagar. Around 7000 students are studying in various courses at different campuses with our group. For quality standards of international level, Bhagwant Group is having collaborations with various Universities of international repute. With the aim to provide international exposure, we arrange international tours every year for the staff and students of the group. Also, we have a well-equipped Central Library with more than 90,000 books.

What do you see as BGI’s greatest strengths?

“Large amount of facilities and youth empowerment initiatives”

Bhagwant Group of Institutions (BGI), Muzaffarnagar campus is promoted by Bhagwant Education Development Society, Bijnor. The objective is to provide education in different fields such as Science & Technology, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Paramedical and Education. The aim of the BGI is to disseminate knowledge and empower youth especially rural youth with latest professional skills to make them competent for getting jobs as well as for entrepreneurship. The institute has provided infrastructural facilities such as modern buildings, state-of-the-art equipment in the labs, furniture etc. which is required for all academic activities. Amenities in the form of hostels, both for boys and girls, cafeteria, power supply, Wi-Fi enabled campus, indoor and outdoor games, etc., are being provided to create a healthy academic environment. Special emphasis is laid on the code of conduct and discipline amongst the students and staff.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see for higher education in India?

“Practical perspectives of education, employability and ethics”

In India, currently higher education institutes are not matching the expectations and requirements of Industry regarding skill sets of graduates. More than 85% graduates are not employable and lack even a basic understanding of the courses that they have graduated from. Also, in India, youth are more interested in getting jobs rather than starting their own ventures and providing employment to others. As a country we need to change the mindset of people at large, overcome the society stigma and bring about a change in the approach of government administrators in favour of entrepreneurs. Further, we need to inculcate morals and professional ethics amongst our youth. They should believe in acquiring competence in their respective fields, and should be ready for healthy professional competition while maintaining the expected professional ethics.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

“Be self-reliant, realistic and competent to achieve”

I would like to suggest to the current youth that they should set their goals as early as possible and try to find out what they actually want to be in life. After that, align your best efforts to achieve the set goals. You need to be realistic, while assessing your strengths and weaknesses before setting your goals. Today, there is a stiff competition in almost every field. Therefore, you need to acquire the required competency to achieve your goals. You must inculcate the requisite qualities of success such as hard work, dedication, self-imposed discipline and positive attitude.
