Ms Priyanka Devilal is the Assistant Professor at Siddhartha Institute of Pharmacy, Dehardun. Having completed B.Pharm and M.Pharm, she is an expert academician with a passion towards providing better education facilities. She is a GPAT qualified professional and has secured 1st rank during her postgraduate studies. She has been awarded on several occasions for her contribution to the academic sector.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students?

“Sports week, quiz competitions, debates, and an annual function are among the activities”

 Our department organizes different practices throughout the year to enhance the skills and knowledge of our students like:

How do you strategize the curriculum of the College?

“Focussing on basic and simple, yet effective pedagogy”

I strategize my curriculum in such a way that students should not feel the burden of studies. The agenda is to ensure they have an understanding of all the basic concepts. I always try to teach them in the simplest and effective manner with the help of diagrams, flow charts, and interesting examples.

How does your department prepare students for Higher education and placement?

"A dedicated training and placement cell to assist students"

The placement cell of our institute is continuously working on providing opportunities for the students. Our institute always tries to place maximum students through campus placement. We encourage our students to pursue higher education so that they can build a strong profile. The students are also encouraged to take up various projects, exploring different areas and discovering their interests.

What are your responsibilities towards the students?

“Lead by example and foster a positive classroom environment”

Being a faculty my first responsibility is to provide a positive classroom atmosphere for all my learners. It is a place where I can clarify all the basics for the students. I also want them to be confident, disciplined, and good professionals in order to follow through with their goals.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Practical sessions are combined with theory for better learning”

As we have all the laboratories in our department, it is much easier for the students to grasp the concepts behind the theory. Practicals are used to correlate terms. By using practicals, students are able to better understand theory. The department arranges industrial visits for its students to make them more industry oriented.

What are the challenges you are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

“Lack of English Language fluency is a prominent hurdle”

The biggest challenge to uplift the quality education in our department is the language problem of most of the first year students. Most of these students have a state board education (Hindi medium), so understanding the concept in English is difficult for them. Though they have a thorough understanding of all concepts, they cannot write them well in exams.

What do you see as the college’s greatest strengths?

“Cooperation, understanding, and teamwork are the key strengths of our college”

Communication is at the heart of a great team effort. Communication and ideas are shared well when like minded people collaborate on various topics. In order for a team to work well, the role of a leader is crucial. By showing gratitude, good communication, and acceptance teamwork can be enhanced.

What valuable advice would you like to give the students for a prosperous career ahead? 

“To explore different spheres and develop skills according to industry requirements”

Students should be practical towards life, be career-oriented, and hardworking. They must maintain loyalty towards themselves and their family. They should explore various domains and develop their skills according to the current industry needs. The best way to compete in the outside world and build a successful career is to make good use of their time as much as possible.
