AIIMS Raipur Organised its First Convocation

New Delhi: The All India Institute Of Medical Science Raipur conducted its first convocation on March 7, 2023. A total of 850 students from medical and nursing backgrounds have been awarded with their degrees. Chief Guest Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar urged all the passout medical students to work to uplift society with their dedicated services.

On this occasion, D. Pawar also inaugurated Dental OPD with state of the art facilities and dedicated auditorium for the nation. Dr. Pawar said the students of MBBS and BSc (Nursing) are starting a new stage of their lives. It's now time to educate society using the knowledge you have acquired via your education.

In society, doctors are ranked above god. She advised everyone to uphold society's faith despite the profession's novelty. According to Dr. Pawar, there are currently 665 medical colleges operating in the nation, up from 387 in 2014.

During 2014, the number of MBBS seats has climbed by 95%, and the number of PG seats has increased by 110%. She noted that the federal government is actively pursuing its aim to offer everyone access to high-quality medical care.

Dr. Pawar applauded AIIMS Raipur’s rapid expansion over the course of just ten years and the institution's commitment to patient care, which was spearheaded by Professor (Dr.) Nitin M. Nagarkar and other academic members.

Along with IIT Bhilai, the Institute is establishing a medical technology innovation hub. Also, the two institutions are working together on the AIIMS-IIT knowledge innovation cluster. She claimed that these programmes will benefit the society.

Earlier, the President of institute, Prof. George A D'souza commended the hard work of faculty members and expressed the hope that the Institute would soon be able to provide patients with more super specialized services.

The Director of institute, Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M. Nagarkar, gave a report on its development. According to Prof. Nagarkar, AIIMS Raipur has developed into a research powerhouse in just ten years after its founding.

At the First Convocation, degrees were conferred on a total of 425 medical graduates from five batches (2012–16 batches), 292 B.Sc. nursing students (2013–17 batches), 120 MD/ MS/ MDS students, 8 M.Sc. nursing students, and 5 Master of Public Health students. Gold medalists in the Convocation Ceremony were assisted by Dr. Pawar, Prof. D'Souza, Prof. Nagarkar, Member of Parliament Sunil Soni, Saroj Pandey, and Arun Sao. Also, Dr. Pawar went to Jan Aushadi Kendra and spoke with patients and recipients. Also, she opened the Dental OPD with state-of-the-art amenities.
