The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is all set to offer a free 12-week course on Ornithology, to introduce students to the scientific study of birds.
As a part of AICTE's SWAYAM, a central programme designed to achieve the principles of access, equity, and quality in education, the Council has introduced a 12-week free course in Ornithology.
According to the council, the 12-week free course will assist the undergraduate and postgraduate students in sciences to get an insight about the scientific study of birds. However, all interested and enthusiastic members of the public are also welcome to enrol for the course.
This 12-week course covers the basics of a range of specific topics including Taxonomy, Behavior, Conservation, Bird Anatomy, and Physiology.

The 12-week free course is not only suitable for those pursuing their bachelor's and master's degree in life science, but also for a group of people who want to discover Ornithology as a career option and for birdwatchers intending to expand their understanding of birds.

Sanjeev Khanna, Birdwatcher and Rescuer said that AICTE has introduced a great initiative by offering a 12-week free course on Ornithology. Courses like this will certainly incline the masses towards nature and will create the necessary awareness, which will be an integral step towards conservation, Khanna said.
Within hours of its launch, the 12-week course on Ornithology witnessed around 1,922 takers and the number is likely to increase in future.
According to the official AICTE schedule, the course will continue from January 24 till April 15, 2022, with an examination to be held on April 23, 2022, that is optional for the participants. Interested candidates can register for the 12-week free course on Ornithology on or before January 31, 2022.
