New Delhi: AICTE has recently directed all PGDM institutions to apply for approval before 2022-23 admission. The council said that no partial approval of technical courses will be given to universities in order to avoid confusion among stakeholders.
“It has come to notice of AICTE from several newspaper advertisements that some institutions are admitting students for PGDM courses in session 2022-23 without taking the approval of AICTE.
The PGDM institutes are standalone institutes and the norms of AICTE for PGDM are given in appendix 9 of APH 2021'22 are strict to be followed,” the council said in an official statement.
AICTE also warned that any institution offering such a technical programme in violation of the regulations or approved process handbook will surely face legal action. All universities have to take either full approval from AICTE for technical courses or continue without its approval.

"An Institution offering any programme/ course in technical education in violation of Regulations/ Approval Process Handbook shall be liable to appropriate penal action including fine/ no admission/ withdrawal of approval/ reduction in "Approved Intake"/ criminal action by the Council against defaulting Trust/ Society/ Company/ Associated Individuals/ the Institution, as the case may be"AICTE added in the statement.

All Deemed to be Universities that have not obtained approval till now are required to obtain AICTE approval in the academic year 2022-23, otherwise, the Council will be constrained to stop giving approval obtained partially to only a few technical programmes, as per the council.
Therefore, AICTE has directed all PGDM institutions to admit the students only after receiving approval from the Council, it said. The council has asked all such institutions to apply for approval for the academic year 2022-23 through the official portal after AICTE notification, it added.
