January 11, 2021: All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has announced that the B.Tech and Diploma in Engineering and Technology degree offered by IGNOU till academic session 2011-2012 will be treated as valid.

Open Central University terminated the two courses after the academic session 2011-12. Since then, several cases were investigated in various courts across India about the validity of these two courses, conducted by IGNOU through distance learning methods.
