The Research Master Business in Society is an excellent joint degree program of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) and the University of Amsterdam (UvA) taught by the best researchers in business administration at both universities.
Business in Society focuses on understanding the intricate relationships between business and society, which becomes increasingly necessary for addressing grand challenges like environmental and financial sustainability and for meeting our society’s demand for ethical leadership and corporate social responsibility. The two-year program will equip students with the knowledge and skills to shape new ways of doing business taking into account how organizations and society affect each other. It also provides the methodological and theory-building skills needed to conceive of new solutions for the problems related to business in society.
The exclusive program provides students with an opportunity to work in close collaboration with top researchers from the School of Business and Economics (SBE) and the Amsterdam Business School (ABS). The aim of this joint effort is to educate a new generation of business and management researchers who have a profound grasp of the societal trends that are changing the face of business.
Graduating from this program provides excellent prospects for continuing in a fully-funded Ph.D. position at one of our faculties.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Applicants to the master program need to show that they have obtained the following knowledge and skills at the level of an academic bachelor program:
- Academic working standard as evidenced by a bachelor’s thesis with an equivalent of minimally 5 EC.
- Research skills, both qualitative and quantitative. Demonstrated with completed intermediate/advanced bachelor's courses with an equivalent of minimally 12 EC.
- Affinity with Entrepreneurship. Demonstrated with completed courses in Entrepreneurship or entrepreneurial experience.
Students who have completed a professional education (HBO/polytechnic degree) can be admitted once they have successfully completed the applicable pre-master's program.
The Admissions Board will investigate whether the interested person meets the admission requirements.
preferably GMAT/GRE score in the 85 percentile or above
an academic knowledge base in business administration, organization & management studies (knowledge of strategy, marketing, finance, accounting, organization studies, HRM, and technology and innovation, together at least 30 ECTS)

Indian Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:?

VU Amsterdam requires all applicants to take an English test. Exceptions are made for students who have completed a bachelor's or master's in Canada, the USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, or Australia.
TOEFL and IELTS tests must have been completed no more than two years before which the course starts.

International students hailing from non-English speaking countries also need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
