Nishi Patel Review at Dublin City University Business School [DCUBS], Dublin | Collegedunia

My Journey at Dublin Business School

I consulted a consultancy. I had 1 or 2 friends here in Ireland so I had a brief talk with them.

Course Curriculum :

I think right now it's more based on projects and assignments. Like if I talk about my college, for this first semester, we have 4 modules and we have 2-2 projects for each module. Based on the projects, they will be grading us for our exams like we don?t have any exams right now. We just have one exam for one module. I think there is not much pressure. The projects and assignments are quite well-explained by the professors like how we have to do each and every project and what all is needed. This is for my college but I know about some other colleges I have heard from my friends and they are having quite a lot of pressure like they have projects plus exams. For 1 or 2 modules we are feeling like this is not related to digital marketing. But the rest 1 or 2 modules are proper. We think it might be related to some or the other thing because we don?t know the practical aspect.

Exams :

Only IELTS scores were required for admission to my program at Dublin Business School. My score was 7.0.

Placement :

No information about the companies visited, profile offered, number of students placed, how is the placement process, median salary has been mentioned.

Internship :

I am working as a part time employee at Burger King as a crew member . It is not an internship.

Faculty :

Teachers are based on modules. For me, I have 4 modules for the 1st semester so we have 4 teachers. We have 40 students. Every class is a live session and all the sessions are recorded and then ploaded on the modal so if at all we want to rewatch it for any doubts we have then we can rewatch it anytime and clear our doubts. They do try to give one-to-one sessions. The whole class is divided into few groups for projects so almost in every class teacher will send us into breakout groups and then the teacher will come in each breakout room and ask if we have any doubts regarding projects or difficulties with the group like you know sometimes there are problems going on between students in a group so they listen to that as well.

Campus Life :

Right now, it?s lockdown so I haven?t got any chance to visit my college. But as far as I know, universities here have their own proper library. Though there is a lockdown going on but we have the facility of an e-library like we can just book any book that we want online and then go and collect from the library of the college. Apart from that, many colleges here have gym facility, swimming facility, sports facility. Though it is not for every college like for my college we only have a library not any other extra facilities but I know some other colleges here that provide these facilities. It is difficult right now. If I talk about now, lockdown is going on and only essentials are open so no pub or restaurants are open. So the only friends I have right now are the roommates that I am living with and my course friends with whom we have a talk through Whatsapp or Zoom call. In this lockdown situation also, the college is giving efforts like it is conducting all activities online. In my college, every week 2 days there is something or the other. Though it is online or on Zoom call they are giving efforts. The peer mentor groups, student unions, they are organizing activities. I was not able to attend because I had a part-time job but they are trying to do things. I talked about this thing that my college is taking efforts to give us in college experience by providing these online sessions like they have gyming and exercising sessions and different games. I haven?t heard from my friends in other universities like they are having this so I think this makes my college different from them. At least in this lockdown they are trying to give us college experience.

Hostel :

I think there is a shared kitchen, So it's like, apartment, condominium, like, and then there's which I think that's a shared bathroom as well, with a few showers inside. And then the rooms pretty small. Actually, it just depends on what you want. Because like, there's the room. If the fan itself then like, it's a single bed, maybe there's a double bed with a fan. It's like options, they can choose whether you want to add a bigger room with bigger space, but they're quite expensive. But from what I know, on average, they charge $150 per month.
