Siddharth Sharma Review at Dublin City University [DCU], Dublin | Collegedunia

DCU - My Living Dream

I chose this university for the vast range of the modules and flexibility in the choices of modules. This university offers great chances to enhance one's skills for the job market, plus my course also had an Intel Scholarship Program which directly led me to be a part of Intel. This was one of the main reasons for me to join DCU.

Course Curriculum :

My major is Image Processing which mainly deals with Computer Vision. This is the latest emerging technology in the field of Machine Learning. A good example can be automated driving if Tesla. I have been given projects of Industrial Level research to understand the main concept behind the science.

Exams :

My IELTS Score : 8, My graduation percentage - 68, My 12th class percentage - 65, My 10th class percentage - 65. A minimum of 60 Percent is required to get into Dublin City University's program of Electronic and Computer Engineering.

Placement :

Post Study research options are available in DCU as they offer their students a chance to get PhD. Placement Opportunities are not really a thing here in Ireland but as you learn skills in your modules, your professors let you know about which companies you can apply in.

Internship :

I haven't interned at any company yet.

Fees :

17000 Euros

Scholarship :

Yes. I got Intel Scholarship worth of 3000 Euro.

Faculty :

Faculties are very helpful in nature. Due to online delivery, I could not meet in person all of them but every professor helped me in every possible way. One Professor who taught me Computer Vision is Dr Paul Whelan, whose methods of teaching and research really had a great impact on me, making me able to drive my career in the field of Computer Vision.

Campus Life :

Campus Life is pretty amazing. My second semester was not online so we could see the offline campus activities such as Live Music and Sports activities. DCU has a website of clubs and societies which has pretty good range, starting from Sports to Indian Societies.

Hostel :

On Campus Accomodations are very expensive in comparison to Off Campus Accomodations. Total living costs are around 800-1000 euros per month.
