Bachelor of Arts [B.A] (German Studies)
Field of Study:
German studies at the University of Kassel are particularly broad and score with practical relevance. In the humanities and cultural sciences department, the subject with the “Bachelor of Arts” degree ranges from the study of Old High German texts to the classics of literary history to the linguistic analysis of digital messages in social media and much more. In a first step, the six-semester course of study in the BA major in German studies conveys basic knowledge in language, literature and media science, as well as key competences in communication and scientific methodology, independent of the professional field. It also enables project-related project work in the subsequent compulsory elective area.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
For this course, students need one of the following degrees or certificates:
- General University Entrance Qualification
- Professional qualification (studying without a high school diploma)
- TestDaf: Level 4 in all sub-exams
- Goethe certificate: level C2 in all module parts
- Telc German: C1 university
- German language diploma of the Conference of Ministers of Education: DSD II with continuous level C1 in all areas
- German language test for university admission (DSH) at a registered university: The DSH is divided into three stages. The DSH-2 is required to start studying. There is an exception for the artistic courses (visual arts, visual communication, and product design). Only DSH-1 is required for this: Proof of language proficiency for admission to study at the art college.
